Abstract

Detection precision of a magnetostriction torque sensor is enhanced. A drive signal is outputted to a first resonance circuit (2) consisting of a first detection coil (L1) and a first capacitor (C1), variation in permeability is detected in a first direction based on the phase deviation component of a free vibration wave outputted from the first resonance circuit (2) in a damping manner after stopping of output of the drive signal. A drive signal is outputted to a second resonance circuit (3) consisting of a second detection coil (L2) and a second capacitor (C2), variation in permeability is detected in a second direction based on the phasedeviation component of a free vibration wave outputted from the second resonance circuit (3) in a damping manner after stopping of output of the drive signal, and then the torque of a rotating shaft (S) is detected based on the difference in permeability between the first direction and the second direction.
