Abstract

A gas sensor in which fluctuation of response dependent on the fixing angle is suppressed. The gas sensor comprises a planar sensor element having a detecting section for detecting a predetermined gas on the major surface, a first cover surrounding the detecting section, and a second cover surrounding the first cover. The first cover and the second cover have a plurality of vents, respectively, and the plurality of vents of the first cover and the plurality of vents of the second cover are arranged not to overlap each other. The plurality of vents of the first cover include vents located on the major surface side of the sensor element. A line connecting the center of a vent located on the major surface side of the sensor element and the central axis of the sensor element makes an angle of 35°-45° against the major surface of the sensor element.
