Description

A DISHWASHER WITH WARNING MEANS
[0001] The present invention relates to a dishwasher.
[0002] The washing process in the dishwashers generally comprises the steps of pre-wash made by cold water and main washing with detergent and hot water, rinsing and drying. The user, after actuating the dishwasher can make loading and unloading to/ from the dishwasher while the washing process is in progress by opening the door of the dishwasher. However, this may decrease the effectiveness of the washing process (if opened during main washing step or the drying process the temperature goes down). Moreover, opening the door at any one step of the washing process can result in adversities such as hot water, hot vapor, overflowing of water whereby the user may be harmed.
[0003] Certain implementations have been developed in state of the art so that the user does not experience such adversities.
[0004] In the state of the art United States of America Patent No US2707961, when the door is opened while the dishwasher is operating, the washing process that is in progress at that moment is halted and when the door is closed again the washing process starts operating again from the last position.
[0005] In the state of the art United States of America Patent Application No
US2005/0126601 and the Japanese Patent Application No JP4312432, the door is locked depending on the temperature of the washing water. In these documents, the door is locked at certain instances during the washing process so that washing effectiveness is not reduced and the user is prevented from adversely affecting the washing process by opening the door.
[0006] In state of the art dishwashers, the user can open the door at any step of the washing process for loading or unloading. However, this condition, in addition to the above cited adversities, can also result in the dishes loaded later on not being thoroughly cleaned and even to soil the already washed items. For example, when an item is placed after the main washing step wherein hot water and detergent is used, the item loaded in later on will not be cleaned well and also the dishes washed up to that moment may get spoiled again.
[0007] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher wherein the user can perform the loading/unloading process during the washing cycle without reducing the cleaning performance.
[0008] The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a warning means by which the user is informed with audio or visual symbols when the door can be opened for performing the loading / unloading process.
[0009] Consequently, the user can apprehend when loading or unloading to/from the dishwasher can be performed through the warning means and accordingly can perform loading/unloading with the least effect on the washing process. The user is informed that loading / unloading to/from the dishwasher should not be performed particularly at the last moments of the main washing step or after the main washing is completed.
[0010] Moreover, the items loaded by the user after the main washing process starts are also ensured to be cleaned at the end of the washing process.
[0011] In an embodiment of the present invention, the warning means comprises lamps that illuminate in different colors at times when loading / unloading process is allowed and loading / unloading process is not allowed.
[0012] In another embodiment of the present invention, the user is informed whether or not the process of loading / unloading can be performed by a warning text appearing on the warning means.
[0013] In another embodiment of the present invention, the user is informed whether or not the process of loading / unloading can be performed by aural warnings produced by the warning means.
[0014] In another embodiment of the present invention, the user is informed by the warning means the time period after which loading / unloading is allowed.
[0015] By means of the present invention, during the washing process, the user can give the decision whether to perform loading and/or unloading to/from the washing tub of the dishwasher without adversely affecting the washing process by means of the warning means.
[0016] The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
[0017] Figure 1 - is the schematic view of a dishwasher.
[0018] The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
1. Dishwasher
2. Washing tub
3. Door
4. Warning means
[0019] The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises a washing tub (2) wherein dishes to be washed are placed, a door (3) providing access of the user into the washing tub (2) and a warning means (4) that indicates to the user by means of audio or visual symbols about instances when the door (3) can be opened for performing the loading/unloading processes during the washing process that is comprised of various steps such as the pre-wash, main wash, rinsing and drying (Figure 1).
[0020] While the washing process is in progress, the warning means (4) indicates when the user can open the door (3) to place the items to be washed into the washing tub (2) or remove the items therefrom. The items forgotten to be placed in the washing tub (2) can be placed into the washing tub (2) by opening the door (3) after the dishwasher (1) starts operating at a moment that will not adversely affect the washing process. Moreover, with the present invention, after the dishwasher (1) starts operating, the items placed in the washing tub (2) and partially subjected to the washing process can be taken out of the washing tub (2) by opening the door (3) at a moment that will not unfavorably affect the washing process.
[0021] During the washing process, if the door (3) is opened to place in items under appropriate conditions, complying with the warning means (4), the items emplaced later on can also be cleaned like the others. Similarly, when items are desired to be removed during the washing process, the dishes that are partially subjected to the washing process can be taken out of the dishwasher (1).
[0022] The items desired to be cleaned by the user are emplaced in the washing tub (3) by opening the door (3) of the dishwasher (1). The dishwasher (1) starts the washing process by selecting the appropriate programs. During the washing process, the warning means (4) that is disposed on the dishwasher (1) and can be monitored remotely by the user, informs the user whether or not additional loading or unloading can be performed during the washing process.
[0023] If the user, after starting the washing process by operating the dishwasher (1), wants to place in the forgotten item(s) into the washing tub (2) while the washing process is in progress, the warning means (4) must be monitored. If the washing process is in a suitable step for the user to open the door (3) for performing loading or unloading, the warning means (4) notifies the user that additional loading or unloading is allowable. At this stage, the user opens the door (3) of the dishwasher (1), implements the additional loading or unloading process and closes the door (3) again. Then the washing process continues to operate from where it was left. If the dishwasher (1) is not available for the user to perform loading or unloading by opening the door (3), the user is informed by the warning means (4) that additional loading or unloading is not permissible.
[0024] The warning means (4) notifies the user by different signs (color, active/passive, sentences expressing the condition, sounds etc.) the state wherein loading can be made and wherein unloading can be made. In this embodiment, while the state wherein loading can be performed during the washing process is indicated to the user by the warning means (4), for example with yellow color, the state wherein loading is not permissible is indicated to the user with navy blue. Similarly, the state wherein unloading is permissible is signified with green color to the user.
[0025] In an embodiment of the present invention, the warning means (4) comprises one or more lamps. In this embodiment of the present invention, the state of whether or not loading is allowable and the state of whether or not unloading is permissible are indicated by turning on or off a single lamp or by lamps of different colors.
[0026] In another embodiment of the present invention, the warning means (4) informs the user the duration after which performing loading / unloading is permissible. For example, the user is warned by a sentence that appears on the warning means (4) saying " Wait, you can load/ unload after T minutes".
[0027] In another embodiment of the present invention, the warning means (4) has an LCD or seven segment feature screen. The states of permitting to perform loading or unloading to/from the dishwasher (1) are indicated by various symbols or sentences on the screen.
[0028] By means of the present invention, when the user wants to load or unload items while the washing process is in progress, the decision whether this is the appropriate time can be given with the assistance of the warning means (4).
