For instance, a sport complex (Author's Certificate of the USSR No. 1740017, IPC A63B17/04 published on 15.06.1992) comprises a composite post with a cross-piece equipped with means for its fastening to the ceiling in the upper part of the former. Sport apparatuses are arranged on the end sections of the cross-piece by means of cantilevers. However, this device is cumbersome and requires special conditions for its assembly and operation.
Another known demountable sport complex for gymnastic and weight- lifting exercises comprises bars, a horizontal bar, a bench and supports for weight-bar arranged within a single complex which ensures its rapid assembly and dismantling (Certificate for a utility model No. 30600, IPC published on 10.07.2003). Said complex is also rather cumbersome and difficult to use.
Still another known device for muscle training comprises a platform with retention pins for installing arch-like supports for a trainee, said platform being composite, consisting of several parts with transverse through holes in each of them, whereas in the lateral sides of arch-like supports, vertical rows of holes are made for placing retention pins therein and in holes of the platform components, each support being fastened on one of the platform components
(Author's Certificate of the USSR No. 1227210, IPC A63B23/00 published on 30.04.1986). The device allows performing various exercises for muscle training by matching the required holes in supports and platform fixing them together by means of bolts with nuts. However, this device is not sufficiently compact and portable and, therefore, cannot be used by trainees in any place.
There is therefore a need for a more compact and portable collapsible exercise device.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The invention is herein described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
FIG. IA is a front view of a portable exercise device, constructed and operative according to the teachings of the present invention;
FIG. IB is a side view of the portable exercise device of Figure IA;
FIG. 1C is a top view of the portable exercise device of Figure IA;
FIG. 2 is a schematic front view of the portable exercise device of Figure IA being used in a "pull-ups" configuration; and FIGS. 3 and 4 are schematic side views of the portable exercise device of Figure IA being used in a parallel-bars configuration.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
The present invention provides a portable and easy-to-use device for training various groups of muscles which has a simple and compact construction which is readily assembled and disassembled. This is achieved according to the present invention by realizing a portable device for muscle training comprising two exercise stands, each including an adjustable support, such as a telescopic post, installed on a collapsible base and having an upper end provided with a hand grip or handle. The two stands are interconnected by a mechanical linkage which prevents the exercise stands from sliding apart. In one preferred embodiment as shown, the exercise stands are fastened together by a transverse rod that can be arranged in either the upper or the lower part of
the posts depending on the purposes of the trainee. The hand grip is preferably rigidly fixed in the upper end of each post.
The transverse rod can be fastened to the posts in such a way that it is possible to regulate the distance between the posts. For example, the rod may have a series of apertures (not shown) through which a locking pin is inserted after the rod passes through a slot in the upright post.
The invention is herein described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figs. 1A-1C show the ready-mounted device for muscle training and Figs. 2, 3 and 4 show the facility in use. The device comprises two telescopic posts 1, mountable-and- dismountable supports 2, transverse rod 3, hand-brackets 4, and fasteners 5. The device components are mountable-and-dismountable ensuring a quick rearrangement of the facility for training various groups of muscles. Besides, the knocked-down device perfectly fits a special case, which makes it portable and allows its use anywhere - indoors at home, at the seaside, in the forest, etc.
The device is used as follows. Depending on the exercise, post 1 and transverse rod 3 are arranged as shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4.
When telescopic posts 1 are pulled apart in the axial direction to the maximum height, and transverse rod 3 is fastened in the upper part of the posts serves as a bar, the facility functions as a horizontal bar (Fig. 2). In this case, the broad and trapezius muscles of the back and bicepses operate.
In the case shown in Figs. 3, 4 telescopic posts 1 are shifted to the necessary height, and transverse rod 3 is fastened in the lower part of the posts
in the immediate vicinity of supports 2 and serves as a restrictor, i.e. prevents self-separation of the supports with the posts under a force impact from the direction of the hand-brackets. In this embodiment of the device, a trainee exercises using hand-brackets 4 (Figs. 3, 4). In this case, lateral stomach muscles, greater pectoral muscle and triangulares are trained.
Thus, the present invention provides an inexpensive universal portable and user-friendly sporting trainer-simulator.
In order to provide compact storage and portability while ensuring sufficient height for various different types of exercise and different size users, the adjustable supports are preferably configured to be extensible to at least 150 percent of their minimum length, and more preferably to at least 200 percent of their minimum length. This may readily be achieved using a three-part telescopic arrangement.
It should be noted that, although illustrated herein in a preferred implementation as a rigid bar or rod, the mechanical linkage may in fact be implemented in various alternative ways. By way of non-limiting examples, a chain or cord connected between the exercise stands is also effective to prevent them from sliding apart and would be effective at least for the parallel-bars mode of use of the device. Where a rigid bar is used for the linkage, engagement between the bar and the exercise stands is preferably implemented so as to inhibit relative rotation of the hand grips, thereby keeping the grips roughly parallel. For the parallel-bars functionality of the invention, the exercise stands are preferably
configured for attachment of the rigid bar within the bottom fifth of a height of the exercise stands. For the pull-ups configuration of Figure 2, the exercise stands are preferably further configured to allow attachment of the rigid bar between the exercise stands adjacent to the upper ends, as shown.
It will be appreciated that the above descriptions are intended only to serve as examples, and that many other embodiments are possible within the scope of the present invention as defined in the appended claims.
