Description
Description
GRINDING STONE FOR GRINDING ROLL ON-LINE
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to an on-line grinding stone for grinding a roll. More specifically, the invention relates to an on-line roll grinding stone in which a grinding body and a back plate supporting the grinding body are configured in an assembly, thereby improving productivity and enabling to replace the grinding boy only, but not the back plate. Background Art
[2] In general, a roll used in hot-rolling or cold-rolling a steel plate is configured so as to be ground on-line during manufacturing of the steel plate, thereby optimizing the manufacturing conditions of the steel plates.
[3] As describe above, a conventional grinding stone for grinding the roll on-line is structured in such a way that a grinding body is adhered to a back plate made of a metallic material. A vibration-resistant material is combined in the back plate, but its effect is weak. Thus, when the roll is ground on-line under extremely harsh conditions, stresses are accumulated in the grinding stone. Therefore, grinding marks are formed in a ground body (workpiece), i.e., on the roll surface or irregular friction results in failure of the roll, thereby leading to degradation in the grinding capacity and the grinding accuracy. There has been a need to provide a grinding stone to solve these problems fundamentally.
[4] An on-line roll grinding stone is disclosed in Korean Patent No. 10-0490152 filed by the present applicant. This grinding stone includes a grinding body and a back plate, which are configured to be assembled.
[5] The above grinding stone reduces grinding load against external stresses and suppre sses vibration to thereby prevent roll failure due to grinding marks or irregular frictions. Thus, this grinding stone provides consistent grinding capacity and accuracy and improves working efficiency in on-line roll processing, and other many benefits.
[6] However, the above grinding stone is structured in such a way that a number of holes are formed in a support plate and back plate constituting a grinding body, and a number of bolts are assembled under a same condition. Thus, this grinding stone embraces several problems, for example, the defect rate becomes higher and the assembling time becomes overly extended.
[7] In order to solve these problems, an improved on-line roll grinding stone is disclosed in Korean Utility Model No. 20-0411656, which has been issued to the present applicant.
[8] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the above grinding stone 1 includes a grinding body 2 formed of a granule layer 26 adhered to a support plate 2a using an adhesive (epoxy adhesive). The grinding body 2 is assembled into a back plate 3. A vibration-resistant material 4 is interposed between the support plate 2a and the back plate 3. A male thread 2c is formed in the outer circumference of the support plate 2a of the grinding body 2 and a female thread 3a is formed in the back plate 3 so as to correspond to the male thread 2c. The male thread 2c and the female thread 3a are fastened to each other in opposite direction to the rotation.
[9] The technique disclosed in the above utility model provides a significant advantage, for example, a great reduction in the assembling time.
[10] The above on-line roll grinding stone 1 does not incur a problem in the manufacturing process. However, it has revealed a problem when in use. That is, during operation, the grinding body 2 is strongly urged in the opposite direction of rotation to thereby lead to a further strong thread connection, so that the grinding body 2 becomes finely inclined. Dust and the like are introduced through the exposed thread connection so that the grinding body 2 can not be easily disassembled after use. Further, during the disassembling, the thread is destroyed or the like such that the back plate 3 cannot be re-used practically. Disclosure of Invention

[17] FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the grinding stone illustrated in FIG. 3.
[18]
Mode for the Invention
[19] Hereinafter, exemplary embodiments of the invention will be explained in details with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[20] FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view showing an on-line grinding stone according to an embodiment of the invention. FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the grinding stone illustrated in FIG. 3. In the figures, the same elements as in the conventional technique are denoted by same references for the purpose of convenient understanding of the invention.
[21] The present invention has improved an on-line roll grinding stone 1, which includes a grinding body 2 formed of a support plate 2a having a depressed groove and a granule layer 2b adhered to the support plate 2a using an adhesive (epoxy adhesive) and a back plate 3. A vibration-resistant material 4 is disposed between the grinding body 2 and the back plate 3. These components are all capable of being assembled and disassembled.
[22] That is, in the on-line roll grinding stone 1 of the invention, a male thread 2c and a female thread 3a are formed in the support plate 2a constituting the grinding body 2 and the back plate 3 in such a way that the threads 2c and 3a can be tightened in the opposite direction to rotation of the grinding stone 1. One or more thread holes 6 and 7 are formed in the support plate 2a and the back plate 3 so as to be perpendicular to the rotational shaft of the grinding stone. A fixing screw 8 is fastened to the thread hole 6, 7 in such a way that the leading end of the screw 8 is tightly contacted with the male thread 2c formed in the support plate 2a.
[23] In addition, a sealant 9 such as silicon rubber is applied to the upper end of the back
plate 3, i.e., the connection portion of the male thread 2c and the female thread 3a.
[24] The end portion of the vibration-resistant material 4, which is disposed between the support plate 2a and the back plate 3, is sealed with a sealant 5 such as silicon rubber. Thus, the vibration-resistant material 4 can be prevented from being damaged even under harsh conditions.
[25] The above-constructed grinding stone 1 according to the invention is used to grind a roll in hot-rolling or cold-rolling a steel plate on-line during manufacturing of the steel plate such that optimal manufacturing conditions can be maintained.
[26] According to the present invention, with the vibration-resistant material rested on the back plate 3, the female thread 3a formed in the back plate 3 is assembled with the male thread 2c formed in the support plate 2a. Then, the fixing screw 8 is fastened through the fixing holes 6 and 7 formed in the back plate 3 and the support plate 2a to firmly fix the support plate 2a of the grinding body 2. Thereafter, the sealants 5 and 9 are applied to the exposed portion of the vibration-resistant material 4 and the connection portion of the male thread 2c and the female thread 3a. According to the present invention, the support plate 2a of the grinding body 2 thread-assembled to the back plate 3 is secondarily fixed by the fixing screw 8, thereby reducing the process time significantly and providing assembling-accuracy.
[27] Furthermore, the sealant 9 such as silicon rubber is applied to seal the connection portion of the male thread 2c and the female thread 3a. Thus, dust or the like is prevented from being introduced, thereby easily disassembling the support plate 2a and the back plate 3 by removing the sealant 9 after used.
[28] Therefore, the present invention can reduce grinding resistance caused by stresses occurring when the roll is ground. The vibration can be suppressed. Further, the grinding body 2 can be prevented from being reversely rotated and thus finely distorted, thereby avoiding grinding patterns on the roll and thus maintaining an accurate surface roughness. Industrial Applicability
[29] As described above, the present invention is constructed in such a way that the grinding body 2 constituting the grinding stone 1 is thread-fastened directly to the back plate 3 and secondarily fixed using the fixing screw 8. Thus, as previously mentioned, the productivity can be improved and the anti- vibration effect can be provided, thereby maintaining the roll in a good shape to enable to manufacture high-quality steel plates. After used, the back plate 3 can be re-used to thereby reduce the manufacturing cost.
