Abstract

A metrological instrument which includes an elongated body having an operatively upward face, and an operative downward face for contact with a measuring surface, the upper face and the lower face meeting along respective end and side edges of the body, with at least one of the side edges of the body being linear, and an electronic distance measurement arrangement mounted on the body, the electronic distance measurement arrangement being connectable to a power source and including an elongated electronic visual display located on the upper face of the body and extending longitudinally along a said linear edge of the body for displaying markings for measuring distance, and a controller operatively connected to the electronic visual display for controlling the operation of the electronic visual display.
