DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Fig. 1 is a schematic exploded view of an electronic device according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 2 is a schematic side view of the assembled electronic device of Fig. 1. Referring to Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the electronic device 100 includes a supporting mechanism 110, a computer appliance 120, a display 130 (for example, a liquid crystal based display, a cathode ray tube based display, an organic light-emitting diode based display, a liquid crystal on silicon based display, a plasma display panel based display or a digital light processing based display) and at least one fixing element 140 (four fixing elements 140 schematically shown in Fig. 1). The supporting mechanism 110 has a carrying element 112 to carry the computer appliance 120. The computer appliance 120 is disposed on the carrying element 112. The display 130 is disposed on the computer appliance 120. It should be noted that the computer appliance 120 may be connected to I/O devices such as a display, a mouse, a keyboard etc, and may include electronic elements such as a main board, chips, memories etc. inside.
The fixing elements 140 pass through the carrying element 112 and the computer appliance 120 and extend to the interior of the display 130 such that the relative position between the carrying element 112, the computer appliance 120, and the display 130 may be fixed. In other words, the fixing
elements 140 (for example, screws or other elongated fixing elements which pass through the electronic device 100 to fix it) fix the computer appliance 120 and the display 130 on the carry element 112 of the supporting mechanism 110. Since the display 130 and the computer appliance 120 of the electronic device 100 are fixed on the carrying element 112, the electronic device 100 may be more effective in using a disposed place.
It should be noted that the display 130 may be a display in accordance with the VESA (Video Electronic Standards Association) standards. Therefore, there is no need of a special display 130. Moreover, the supporting mechanism 110 may have a base (not shown) for the electronic device 100 being placed on a table; or the supporting mechanism 110 may have a cantilever (not shown) for fixing the electronic device 100 on a wall. In other words, the shape of the supporting mechanism 100 may be changed according to an actual requirement.
In another embodiment, the computer appliance may include a casing and at least one through tube as shown in Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a schematic exploded view of a part of the computer appliance shown in Fig. 1. Referring to Fig. 1, 2 and 3, the computer appliance 120 includes a casing 122 and at least one through tube 124 (four through tubes 124 schematically shown in Fig. 3). A surface 122a of the casing 122 has at least one through hole 123 (four through holes 123 schematically shown in Fig. 3), and a surface 122b opposite to the surface 122a also has at least one through hole 125 (four through holes 125 schematically shown in Fig. 3) corresponding to the through holes 123. The through tubes 124 pass through the surface 122a of the casing 122, the interior of the casing 122 and the surface 122b of the casing 122. In other embodiment, the through tubes 124 may pass through one of the surfaces 122a and 122b of the casing 122 and the interior of the casing 122. Moreover, in the present embodiment, the number of the fixing elements 140 is generally equivalent to the number of the through holes 123, the number of the fixing elements 140 is generally equivalent to the number of the through holes 125, and the number of the fixing elements 140 is
generally equivalent to the number of the through tubes 124. The fixing elements 140 pass through the corresponding through holes 123, the corresponding through tubes 124 and the corresponding through holes 125.
It should be noted that in the present embodiment, one end of each of the through tubes 124 may be integrally formed with the corresponding through hole 123, and the other end of each of the through tubes 124 may be fixed into the corresponding through hole 125. In another embodiment, one end of each of the through tubes 124 may be integrally formed with the corresponding through hole 123, while the other end of each of the through tubes 124 may pass through the interior of the casing 122, but not pass through the corresponding through hole 125. However, in another embodiment, each through tube 124 having external thread may be screwed into the corresponding through hole 123 having internal thread, though this is not illustrated in the drawings.
Since the fixing elements 140 of the electronic device 100 pass through the carrying element 112, the through holes 123, the through tubes 124 and the through holes 125, and extend to the interior of the display 130 to fix the relative position between the carrying element 112, the computer appliance
120, and the display 130, thus weight of the display 130 and weight of the computer appliance 120 of the electronic device 100 may be borne collectively by the fixing elements 140 and carrying element 112 of the supporting mechanism 110 and the method used in the present embodiment of fixing the electronic device 100 is more secure.
Referring to Fig. 3, the computer appliance 120 further includes a circuit board 126, which may be a main board disposed inside the casing 122. In the present embodiment, if the size of the circuit board 126 is relatively large and interferes with the through tubes 124, the circuit board may have at least one reserved hole 126a (two reserved holes 126a schematically shown in Fig. 3) such that part of the through tubes 124 may pass through the corresponding reserved holes 126a. It should be noted that the number of the reserved holes 126a of the circuit board 126 may be changed according to the
requirement of a designer, the size and the shape of a circuit board 126. This embodiment is described as an example only and is not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
It should be noted that if the size of a circuit board 126 is relatively small and does not interfere with the through tubes 124, there is no need of any reserved holes 126a on a circuit board 126. In other words, the through tubes 124 may freely pass by the circuit board 126. However, this is not illustrated in the drawings.
Fig. 4 is a schematic side view of an assembled electronic device according to another embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 5 is a schematic exploded view of a part of the computer appliance shown in Fig. 4. Referring to Fig. 4 and Fig. 5, the main difference between the electronic device 200 and the electronic device 100 is that each through tube 224 of computer appliance 220 of the electronic device 200 may have internal thread. Thus, the screws having external thread used as fixing elements 240 may be screwed through the carrying element 212 to the corresponding through tubes 224 and extend to the interior of the display 230 such that the carrying element 212 of the supporting mechanism 210, the computer appliance 220 and the display 230 is more securely fixed together.
As described above, electronic device and computer appliance thereof of the present invention have at least the following advantages:
1. Since the display and the computer appliance of an electronic device are fixed on the carrying element of the supporting mechanism, the disposed space may be effectively used.
2. Since a fixing element is used to pass through a corresponding through tube of the computer appliance according to the aforementioned fixing method, weight of the display and weight of the computer appliance of the electronic device may be borne collectively by the fixing elements and the carrying elements of the supporting mechanism and the carrying element of the supporting mechanism, the computer appliance and the display of the
electronic device of the present invention may be securely fixed together.
It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made to the structure of the present invention without departing from the scope or spirit of the invention. In view of the foregoing, it is intended that the present invention cover modifications and variations of this invention provided they fall within the scope of the following claims and their equivalents.
