Abstract

A system (10) for logging instances in which a road vehicle is driven in a manner exceeding safe performance criteria includes a wheel vibratory sensor arrangement (14) for each wheel (12) configured to measure vibrational motion of the wheel hub along at least two, and preferably three, perpendicular axes. The system processes the vibrational motion measurements to determine whether the current use of the vehicle exceeds safe performance criteria for the vehicle under current driving conditions, and logs instances of such exceedance. The logged data may be used in applications such as calculation of an insurance premium adjustment or by law enforcement agencies for analysis of driving behavior prior to occurrence of a road accident.
