Abstract

Box of the type intended mainly for storing and transporting fruit and vegetables, among other things, characterized in that it does not have metal fasteners between the end walls and the sides, while retaining the necessary features to fulfil its function. The box to which the present invention relates is made, at least as regards the end walls and sides, of a wood material such as board and plywood, or a wood-based material such as fibreboard or particleboard. According to the invention, it is characterized in that either the end wall and sides form part of a single piece, in which these elements have been delimited by grooves that do not pass through the whole section of said piece, it being possible to form the box by folding along these grooves, the section not passed through by the groove acting as a hinge element; or the end wall and sides are clearly independent, the sides possibly forming a single piece, in which case they are delimited by grooves that do not pass through the whole section of said piece, it thus being possible to form the sides into their box configuration by folding along these grooves, the section not passed through by the groove acting as a hinge element.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a box of those usually used for the storage and transport of fruits and vegetables among others, of the type formed by a bottom and four sides, of a wood material as among other veneer and plywood or wood derivative such as fiber boards or agglomerates, joined together by joining means, with four triangular columns arranged at the vertices described by the sides, these columns being joined to the sides by the same means of Union.

This new box has the same functionality and properties as traditional boxes but does not require metal joining means in areas of little section where they can pass through said sections. Background of the invention

In this type of boxes, normally made of wooden slats, wood veneer or wood fiber, to fix the composition of its constituent elements, metallic elements are usually used, usually stapled, which fix them with respect to the rest and give the box Ia consistency required for use From the point of view of mechanical behavior, the thickness of the bottoms and sides that form the boxes has been reduced to the maximum permissible by the application to which they are intended. In order to avoid this type of problems, several solutions have been developed that seek to eliminate the metallic fasteners of the areas where they can be problematic, usually in the union of the bases or bottoms to the sides.

Some maintain the traditional option of constituting the box from several independent pieces, using various means to hold the pieces together and achieve the required consistency.

Thus, for example, paper sheets reinforced with threads glued to the entire outer surface of the boxes are used.

There are several options that constitute the box from a single piece, defining in it the parts through different forms of milling.

Description of the invention

The box to which the present invention refers is manufactured, at least the bases and sides, in a wood material such as, among other veneer and plywood or derived from the wood, such as fiberboard or chipboard.

The main feature of the present invention is that it does not have metal fasteners between bases and sides, maintaining the necessary performance to fulfill its function.

To enable the elimination of said metallic elements, two options are presented:

A first option presents a box in which the base and the sides belong to the same piece, in which these elements have been delimited by means of grooves that do not cross the entire section of that piece. In this way it is possible to form the box by bending along those grooves, the section acting not crossed by the groove as a hinge element.

In all cases, the consistency necessary for the box to fulfill its function is obtained by means of a glue on the vertices formed between the parts when composing the geometry of the box. By means of these options it is possible the elimination of the metallic fixing elements in the areas where they can cause problems.

Description of the drawings

In order to facilitate the understanding of the concepts presented, a series of descriptive figures of the textually argued are presented. Figure 1 shows a view of a box of the type referred to in the present invention. It shows the different elements that make up.

Figure 2 shows a piece in which the base or bottom and the sides that will comprise a box have been defined by means of a groove.

In Figure 3 it is shown how, from a piece similar to that shown in Figure 2, one of the sides of the box is obtained by bending.

In Figure 4 the two folding alternatives are presented in section from the groove that defines the parts. In it it can be seen that after the folding there is still a link between both parties.

Figure 5 shows in section the fixing of the two parts, after bending, by gluing along the internal and / or external vertex.

According to what is represented in the drawings discussed above, for the realization of the box related in the present invention, it is possible to start from a piece in which the base (4) and the sides (5) of the box are defined by means of a milling that does not completely cross the entire section of the material.

In the four corners of the base or bottom, chamfers of complementary geometry are made to the section of the solid columns with the aim that once formed the box facilitates the stacking between them.

Also, on the surface of the base holes are made that will allow the ventilation of the bottom of the box.

Once the components of the box have been obtained and adapted, the sides are folded with respect to the folding line defined by the grooves (6) (8) to position them in their box conformation, thereby obtaining the volume of the box. This folding is possible since the section of material not crossed by the groove (9) acts as a hinge, maintaining the connection between the parts.

Next, the solid columns (3) are positioned at the corners defined by the sides to which it is joined by stapling or gluing.

At this point you already have a box with some integrity between its components and without any metallic element of support between the base and the sides. To ensure the fixation between the base and the sides, the glue is made at the vertices defined between said elements (11).

Once the sizing is dry, a box is obtained with the aforementioned characteristics and with a consistency sufficient to fulfill the function to which it is intended.

1.
