Abstract

The present invention relates to cellular telecommunications and in particular allocation of reference signals to mobile terminals for uplink transmission. The purpose of the reference signal is for estimation of the uplink channel in a radio base station. The object of the present invention is to reduce the worst case interference scenario impact on the reception of the reference signal. The object is achieved by a method where the mobile terminals are allocated plural reference signals to alternate between in subsequent transmissions according to a hopping scheme. Thereby transmissions from the worst interfering mobile terminal in another cell will collide with reception from different terminals in the own cell, albeit only non-frequent collisions with each of them. Thereby, data received from the mobile terminals will be possible to detect also with the low-frequent collision.
