Abstract

The invention relates to a backrest (1) for a motor vehicle seat, comprising a unitary backrest frame (2), made up of two lateral pieces (3,4) arranged at a distance from each other and a frame upper piece (5) running perpendicular to the above. According to the invention, a backrest head module (7) may be inserted in the backrest frame (2) and is retained such as to be pivotable about a joint axis (A) running between the lateral pieces (3,4) in the region of the frame upper part (5). The backrest head module can be produced as a separate component and can be adapted to a unitary frame system of simple design for construction and of proven safety by means of a simple joint connection.
