Abstract

A method for converting geothermal energy into current by means of a cyclic process, with a heat transfer medium, to which heat from the ground is transferred and which subsequently transfers thermal energy to a cyclic process medium which is separate from the heat transfer medium (at 48, 32, 56, 60), performs work in the course of the cyclic process using a current generation apparatus (70, 78), wherein substantially pure ammonia is used as the cyclic process medium.
