Abstract

Accessory for the throttle of a motor vehicle which is provided with at least one bearing, characterised in that the above-mentioned bearing can be provided entirely in the far end of the handlebar (18) of the motor vehicle in the radial direction, and in that the throttle, by means of this bearing, is provided in a rotatable manner round this far end of the handlebar (18).

Description

Accessory for the throttle of a motor vehicle.
The present invention concerns an accessory for the throttle of a motor vehicle.
By the term "motor vehicle" is meant a vehicle with two or more wheels, which is provided with a throttle, such as a motorcycle, moped, scooter, motorized three or four- wheeler such as motor mowers with a seat and the like.
By the word "throttle" are meant throttles which are provided in a rotatable manner round the far end of the steering wheel.
The known throttles of motor vehicles are usually merely anchored on the inside of the throttle, as a result of which the throttle has a large radial play in relation to the steer wheel, which is disadvantageous to the control of the throttle.
Moreover, it is generally known that the frequent us-e of such throttles very much overstresses the wrist of the motorcyclist, since the above-mentioned slide bearing is relatively stiff and, consequently, relatively much force must be exerted to rotate the throttle.
In order to remedy this, it is already known to use an accessory in the form of a roller bearing with an inner ring, an outer ring and roller elements provided in between, whereby the above-mentioned inner ring is equipped with an axial plug-in part which is provided in a hollow far end of the steer wheel of the motor vehicle, such that the above-mentioned bearing is situated entirely next to the far end of the steer wheel.
Next, the throttle is pushed over the far end of the steer wheel concerned, such that the throttle is provided on the outer ring of the bearing, such that this throttle is bearing-mounted in relation to the far end of the steer wheel.
A disadvantage of the use of such known accessories is that a piece of the far end of the steer wheel must always be sawn off so as not to alter the total width of the steer wheel by providing a bearing, as a result of which the use of such a bearing is time-consuming and inconvenient.
Another disadvantage of the known accessories is that they cannot be mounted well between the throttle and the bearing without implementing structural adjustments to the throttle, which is time-consuming and expensive.
The present invention aims to remedy one or several of the above-mentioned and other disadvantages, and to eliminate the play between the throttle and the steer wheel.
To this end, the present invention concerns an accessory for the throttle of a motor vehicle, which is provided with at least one bearing which can be provided as a whole in the far end of the steer wheel of a motor vehicle in the radial direction and whereby the throttle, by means of this bearing, is provided in a rotatable manner round the far end of the steer wheel.
An advantage of an accessory according to the invention is that frictional losses are considerably reduced, such that the user has to exert less force to rotate the throttle, and as a result of which the wrist joint will be stressed less.
Another advantage of an accessory according to the invention is that the bearing can be entirely fit in the steering wheel, such that no piece needs to be sawn off the steering wheel, which considerably simplifies and speeds up the mounting.
Another advantage of an accessory according to the invention is that it allows for a better control of the throttle as the radial play between the throttle and the steering wheel is entirely eliminated.
An additional advantage of an accessory according to the invention is that it is universally applicable, which means that it can be mounted without having to structurally adjust the throttle.
In order to better explain the characteristics of the invention, the following preferred embodiments of an accessory according to the invention for the throttle of a motor vehicle are described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
figure 1 is a disassembled view of an accessory according to the invention; figure 2 schematically represents a far end of a steer wheel with a throttle, seen in perspective, whereby use is made of an accessory according to figure 1; figure 3 represents a view according to line III- III in figure 2.
Figure 1 is a disassembled view of an accessory 1 according to the invention which mainly consists of at least one bearing which can be provided as a whole in the steering wheel of a motor vehicle in the radial direction and which, in this case, is provided with an outer bearing housing 2, at least one bearing element 3 and an inner bush 4.
The above-mentioned bearing housing 2 consists of a cylindrical seating in which is provided a blind bore hole 5 with a bottom wall 6.
At the far end 7 of the outer bearing housing 2, where the above-mentioned bottom wall 6 is situated, the radial outer wall of the bearing housing 2 is preferably, but not necessarily bevelled somewhat, such that said far end 7 is somewhat conical.
At the open end 8, the above-mentioned cylindrical seating is provided with a collar 9.
On the radial outer wall of the bearing housing 2 are in this case provided two circumferential grooves 10.
The bearing element 3 is in this case made in the shape of a cylindrical bush which is preferably, but not necessarily made in the form of a self-lubricating material such as for example carbon. Naturally, also other materials can be used.
Neither is it excluded, according to the invention, for the above-mentioned bearing element 3 to be made in other ways, such as for example in the shape of a bearing cage in which are provided needles, balls or other roller elements, or in the shape of loose roller elements.
Nor is the present invention restricted to the use of a single-row bearing; on the contrary, it is clear that also multi-row bearings can be used and that also more than one bearing element 3 can be provided, depending on the application.
The above-mentioned inner bush 4 in this case consists of a pen provided with a flange 12 at one far end 11.
Further, the accessory 1 preferably comprises locking agents 13 for a throttle, which in this case have the shape of a screw pen 14 which is centrally provided on the above-mentioned flange 12 of the inner bush 4, and a locking lid 15 which is provided with a central hole 16 with internal screw thread which can work in conjunction with the above-mentioned screw pen 14.
In this case, the above-mentioned inner bush 4, the flange 12 and the screw pen 14 form a whole, but it is not excluded according to the invention for this inner bush 4, the flange 12 and the screw pen 14 to be made as separate elements that are connected to each other.
Finally, the accessory 1 is in this case further provided with two O-rings 17 which fit in the above-mentioned circumferential grooves 10 and which, together with these circumferential grooves 10, form fastening means with which the accessory 1 can be fixed in the far end of the steer wheel.
The use of an accessory 1 according to the invention is very simple and is represented in figures 2 and 3.
First, the outer bearing housing 2 is pushed with its conical far end 7 in the open far end of the steer wheel 18 until the above-mentioned collar 9 of this bearing housing 2 is situated up to the far end of the steer wheel .
In order to fix this bearing housing 2 in the far end of the steer wheel 18, use is made in this case of the above- mentioned O-rings 17 which are provided in the above- mentioned circumferential grooves 10 to this end, but it is also possible according to the invention to fix the bearing housing 2 in other ways in the far end of the steer wheel 18, for example by means of gluing, screwing, pressing or any other fixing method whatsoever.
Next, the bearing element 3 is pushed in the bore hole 5 of the bearing housing 2.
Afterwards, the pen of the inner bush 4 is provided in the bearing element 3.
According to a preferred characteristic of the invention, the bearing is situated entirely in the far end of the steer wheel 18 of the motor vehicle in the axial direction, such that no piece needs to be sawn off this far end of the steer wheel 18 as is the case with the known bearings which are provided in the prolongation of the far end of the steer wheel.
However, it is not excluded that the accessory 1 according to the invention can be provided merely partly in the far end of the steer wheel 18.
After the pen of the inner bush 4 has been provided in the bearing element 3, a throttle 19 is pushed over the far end of the steer wheel 18.
In this case, the above-mentioned throttle 19 is provided with a sealed far end having a central bore hole which is pushed over the screw pen 14.
Next, the above-mentioned locking means 13 are sealed as the locking lid 15 is screwed on the screw pen 14, such that the throttle 19 is clamped between this locking lid 15 and the flange 12, and the throttle 19 can rotate round the far end of the steer wheel 18 by means of the accessory 1.
After the assembly, an axial play must be preferably provided between the collar 9 and the flange 12 so as to prevent any possible frictional losses by clamping the throttle, as is known, in an appropriate manner.
Finally, a handle 21 can be provided round the throttle 19 which is made for example of anti-skid material .
Thanks to the presence of the above-mentioned accessory 1, the throttle 19 can be radially mounted without any play, and the throttle 19 can moreover be mounted almost frictionless on the far end of the steer wheel 18.
According to the invention, the above-mentioned bearing can be made in many ways and it is not restricted to a three-part bearing; on the contrary, it may also consist of an outer bearing housing 2 in which the inner bush 4 is directly provided.
According to a special characteristic of the invention, the above-mentioned inner bush 4 can also be made in one piece with the above-mentioned throttle 19.
The present invention is by no means restricted to the embodiments given as an example and represented in the accompanying drawings; on the contrary, such an accessory according to the invention for the throttle of a motor vehicle can be made in all sorts of shapes and dimensions while still remaining within the scope of the invention.
