Abstract

A system and method for collecting, mixing and or extracting particles from within an article (80), e.g. by size or density, including the steps of using at least one sound source (36) to apply a sound wave to the article (80), whereby the sound wave disperses particles throughout the article (80), and optionally transporting and/or collecting particles from the article (80) in a particle collection system (82). This system and method is useful for applications that require noninvasive methods to effect the movement of particles with articles that may contain materials such as solids, fluids and/or gases.
