Description

Description
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS CUTTER OF HAND GRINDER
TYPE
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a wheel cutter for cutting construction materials such as stones or tiles, and more particularly, a wheel cutter for cutting construction materials capable of conveying and rotating a circular cutter along a guide rail to cut construction materials into desired sizes and shapes. Background Art
[2] Generally, since construction materials such as stones or tiles widely used for flooring materials, exterior materials, or other various applications, are distributed with certain thickness and sizes, there are many cases in which such construction materials need to be arbitrarily cut depending on necessity at working sites.
[3] A conventional wheel cutter includes a rotatable circular cutter connected to a handle and having diamond tips fixed to its outer periphery. An operator can grip the handle and pivot the rotatable circular cutter upward and downward to cut construction materials.
[4] However, since the conventional wheel cutter employs a manner of moving the construction material to be cut, rather than the circular cutter, the operator is likely to be injured by the circular cutter rapidly rotated during the cutting operation with moving the construction material.
[5] In addition, since the conventional wheel cutter uses the handle to pivot the circular cutter upward and downward to cut the construction material, it is impossible for the operator to check a cutting state of the construction material because the handle hides the circular cutter.
[6] In addition, since the wheel cutter for cutting construction materials cannot cut the construction material such as a thick stone or tile at one time, the cutting operation needs to be repeated several times. In this case, the handle of the wheel cutter makes it difficult for the operator to check the cutting state of the circular cutter and recognize overheating of the circular cutter. Therefore, the cutting operation of the circular cutter should be stopped, before overheating of the circular cutter, depending on experience of the operator skilled in the art. However, when an unskilled operator uses the wheel cutter, the circular cutter may be overheated to lose its cutting performance, thereby decreasing cutting precision of the construction material.
[7]
Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[8] In order to solve the foregoing and/or other problems, it is an aspect of the present invention to provide a wheel cutter for cutting construction materials including a circular cutter freely movable forward and backward and pivotable upward and downward. Therefore, it is possible to secure safety of an operator by moving the circular cutter to cut a construction material with the construction material being fixed. In addition, the operator can directly check a cutting position of the construction material to enable prevention of shaking of the circular cutter moved along a guide rail. Further, it is possible to readily determine overheating of the circular cutter due to rapid rotation of the circular cutter caused by cutting a thick construction material (especially, stones and ceramic tiles), and freely adjust cutting intensity of the construction material. As a result, cutting precision of the circular cutter for the construction material can be increased.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[27] Exemplary embodiments of the present invention will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[28] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a wheel cutter for cutting construction materials in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 2 is a plan view of the wheel cutter for cutting construction materials in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along line A-A of FIG. 2.
[29] FIG. 4 is a schematic front view showing operation of the wheel cutter for cutting construction materials in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 5 is a schematic side view showing operation of the wheel cutter for cutting construction materials in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
[30] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 5, the wheel cutter for cutting construction materials in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a base 10, a support part 20, a guide rail 30, a movable frame 40, a pivot frame 50, a cutting part 60, and an adjustment pin 70.
[31] The base 10 includes a gauge plate 11 installed on one side thereof and on which a construction material to be cut is disposed.
[32] The pivot frame 50 is coupled with one side of the second frame 42 by a rotary shaft
51 passing through the second frame 42 and a plurality of bearings (not shown) coupled to the rotary shaft 51, thereby fixing the cutting part 60 thereto and pivoting the cutting part 60 upward and downward about the rotary shaft 51.
[33] At this time, the pivot frame 50 has holes (not shown) through which a handle frame
61 passes to fix the cutting part 60. Fixing screws 53 are threadedly engaged in the holes and move inward from an outer periphery of the pivot frame 50 to fix the handle frame 61.
[34] The cutting part 60 includes the handle frame 61, a motor (not shown), and a circular cutter 62, and fixed by the pivot frame 50.
[35] The adjustment pin 70 is coupled with one end of the pivot frame 50 to adjust a height thereof to define a vertical pivot range.
[36] Here, a power supply line is connected to the handle frame 61. Power supplied through the power supply line is supplied to the motor by an ON/OFF switch (not shown) disposed on the handle frame 61 to drive the motor and rotate the circular cutter 62.
[37] Hereinafter, operation of the wheel cutter for cutting construction material in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 5.
[38] First, an operator puts a construction material to be cut on the base 10, and positions and fixes the construction material using the gauge plate 11.
[39] Next, after fixing the construction material, when the operator grips the handle frame
61 of the cutting part 60 and moves the movable frame 40 toward one side of the construction material along the guide rail 30, the circular cutter 62 of the cutting part 60 is disposed at a certain position at an upper surface of the construction material.
[40] In addition, after fixing the position of the circular cutter 62, the operator pivots the handle frame 61 using the rotary shaft 51, a plurality of bearings 52, and the pivot frame 50, thereby making the circular cutter 62 fixed to the handle frame 61 in contact with a surface of the construction material.
[41] Next, when the operator manipulates the ON/OFF switch provided on the handle frame 61 to drive the motor, the circular cutter 62 is rapidly rotated to cut the construction material in contact therewith.
[42] At this time, the circular cutter 62 is moved with the construction material being cut by the circular cutter 62.
[43] That is, when the movable frame 40 is moved along the guide rail 30, the handle frame 61 of the cutting part 60 coupled with the second frame 42 of the movable frame through the rotary shaft 51 is also moved. At the same time, the circular cutter 62 coupled with the handle frame 61 is also moved.
[44] Therefore, the construction material such as stone or tile disposed on the base 10 can be cut into desired sizes by horizontally moving the circular cutter 62.
[45] At this time, the movable frame 40 is divided into first and second frames 41 and 42.
The first frame 41 disposed on the guide rail 30 and the second frame disposed under the guide rail 30 are coupled with each other by fastening the fastening members 43 with the guide rail 30 interposed therebetween. Therefore, it is possible to prevent shaking of the movable frame 40 by a fastening force of the fastening members 43 when the movable frame 40 reciprocates.
[46] That is, convex curved parts (not shown) formed at an inner surface of the first frame
41 are disposed on concave curved parts (not shown) formed at both sides of the guide rail 30 to enable slide movement therebetween. When the fastening members 43 fasten the frames 41 and 42 in this state, it is possible to prevent separation of the first and second frames 41 and 42 from the guide rail 30, securely maintain a coupling force between the frames 41 and 42 with the guide rail 30 interposed therebetween, and prevent shaking of the frames 41 and 42 when they are reciprocated along the guide rail 30.
[47] In addition, the handle frame 61 is installed at a side part of the second frame 42 through the medium of the rotary shaft 51. Therefore, when the circular cutter 62 coupled with the handle frame 61 cuts the construction material, the operator can directly check the cutting operation.
[48] As a result, the operator can directly check the cutting operation of the construction material using the circular cutter 62 moving forward and backward without shaking, thereby making it possible to more precisely perform the cutting operation of the construction material using the circular cutter 62.
[49] Here, an adjustment pin 70 is disposed at one end of the pivot frame 50 to define a downward pivot range of the circular cutter 62.
[50] That is, a cutting depth of the circular cutter 62 is determined depending on a contact state of the adjustment pin 70 with the base 10 or the construction material, thereby uniformly maintaining the cutting operation of the construction material using the circular cutter 62.
[51]
Industrial Applicability
[52] As can be seen from the foregoing, the present invention provides a wheel cutter for cutting construction materials including a circular cutter freely movable forward and backward and pivotable upward and downward.
[53] While some exemplary embodiments of the present invention have been shown and described herein, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that various changes may be made to these embodiments without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
