Abstract

A polarimeter based on a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (a,b,c,d,e,f) is provided and a method for quantitative measurement of the concentration of an optically active substance in a solution (7) The polarimeter may comprise an angle modulator (3), an amplitude modulator (6), a phase modulator or a frequency shifter.
