Abstract

The invention relates to an actuating means (9) for a vehicle component, in particular the headrest (4) of a vehicle seat (1), which, as a result of a crash, can move at least partially under the action of the mass inertia of the seat occupant from its use position toward the head of the seat occupant into a safety position, wherein the actuating means is operatively connected by means of a transmission device to the vehicle component and has an extension means (17) which acts on the transmission means and is provided with zig-zag-shaped deflections (19) in the initial position. According to the invention, at least one part (20), which has at least one deflection (19), of the extension means (17) is formed in one piece.
