Description

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING SHORT MESSAGE SERVICE AND CALL CONNECTION SERVICE USING UNIFORM RESOURCE LOCATOR
SENTENCE Description Technical Field
The present invention relates to a system and method for providing a short message service (SMS) and a call connection service using a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) sentence; and, more particularly, to a short message service and a call connection service system and method which performs an authentication process based on reception information, caller ID, message information, and service authentication information included in the URL sentence of a specific format defined in advance, analyzes the URL sentence, and transmits a short message or connects a call.
Background Art
A short message service (SMS) is a service for transmitting and receiving a short message including a text and/or a number between mobile communication terminals or networks. The short message service is used easily in diverse layers without any additional device because a short message including a caller number, a receiver number, and message contents is authored by a user with a mobile communication terminal, and transmitted through simple key manipulation of the user. Also, as an application area of the mobile communication extends in connection with diverse additional services, the short message service has been more important as a core additional service. As an example, as the Internet is widely used, the short message service provides a web-to-phone service for transmitting a short message to a mobile communication terminal in a web page of a web site.
The short message service simply and conveniently plays a role of stable communication medium. As an example, when there is a short message received when the mobile communication terminal is turned off, the short message service is retransmitted as soon as the mobile communication terminal is turned on. Accordingly, a stable message service is provided. Meanwhile, as the Internet is generalized and resources such as Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) are open to Internet, it is possible to provide an Internet-based call service. Accordingly, a call connection service has become the most noticeable service among Internet-based call services.
The call connection service is a service for connecting a call between a caller terminal and a receiver terminal based on a cooperating server of cable/mobile telephone network on the Internet. When the short message service and the call connection service are used on the Internet, an authentication process by a user is required. That is, since the user should go though the authentication process of accessing to a server providing the services and directly inputting ID and a secret number, it causes inconvenience to the user.
To solve the above problem, the short message service and the call connection service suggest a method for performing the automatic server access and automatic user authentication processes. However, in order to perform the automatic server access and automatic user authentication processes, the user should set up an environment of the user computer such as an individual client program or a domain name system (DNS) . Since the user cannot freely set up the environment of another computer or a common computer, it causes inconvenience to the user. Accordingly, the user can use the service only in a specific operating system of the user computer. It is very inconvenient to use the service in other terminals such as a mobile phone and personal digital assistance (PDA) .
Disclosure Technical Problem
It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide a system and method for providing a short message service and a call connection service using a URL sentence which performs an authentication process based on reception information, caller ID, message information, and service authentication information included in the URL sentence of a specific format defined in advance, analyzes the URL sentence, and transmits a short message or connects a call. Other objects and advantages of the invention will be understood by the following description and become more apparent from the embodiments in accordance with the present invention, which are set forth hereinafter. It will be also apparent that objects and advantages of the invention can be embodied easily by the means defined in claims and combinations thereof.
Technical Solution

Best Mode for the Invention
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of the embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings. Therefore, those skilled in the field of this art of the present invention can embody the technological concept and scope of the invention easily. In addition, if it is considered that detailed description on a related art may obscure the points of the present invention, the detailed description will not be provided herein. The preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail hereinafter with reference to the attached drawings.
In the present invention, a user is a service subscriber who is registered for a short message service (SMS) and a call connection service in advance. Also, the user is a caller who transmits a short message or makes a call to the receiver based on the service of the present invention. Even if the receiver is not a service subscriber, the receiver can receive or call a short message. Therefore, the user and the caller mean the same in the present invention.
Fig. 1 shows a system for providing the short message service and the call connection service based on a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) sentence in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention.
The system for providing the short message service and the call connection service using URL sentence according to the present invention, which is called a service system hereinafter, includes a user terminal 10, a user database (D20, a service server 21, an application server 22, a calling mobile communication terminal 30, a calling cable terminal 31, a called mobile communication terminal 40, and a called cable terminal 41. The mobile telephone network or the cable telephone network is connected to the Internet, which is an interactive heterogeneous network, by a general connection server.
The calling mobile communication terminal 30 and the calling cable terminal 31 will be generally described as a calling terminal. The called mobile communication terminal 40 and the called cable terminal 41 will be generally described as a called terminal. The cable terminal 41 of the called terminal can receive a short message in case that the cable terminal 41 has a function for using the short message service.
The user terminal 10 loads an application program capable of accessing to the Internet and searching a web based on the inputted URL sentence by the user, i.e., a web browser. Accordingly, the user terminal 10 can automatically access to the service server 21 according to Hyper Text Transport Protocol (HTTP) of the inputted URL sentence by the user.
The user terminal 10 includes a computer loading a web browser capable of inputting a URL sentence and a mobile communication terminal such as a mobile phone and a Personal Digital Assistance (PDA) . Although the mobile communication terminal is not shown in Fig. 1, the mobile communication terminal uses the short message service and the call connection service using the URL sentence by accessing to the general wireless Internet.
The URL sentence applied to the present invention will be described in detail hereinafter.
Generally, the URL sentence is a format for showing an address of resources which can be accessed to the Internet. That is, the URL sentence is expressed as a name of a protocol required for accessing to the Internet resources, e.g., HTTP in case of the web, a host name for identifying a specific computer on the Internet, a path name hierarchically showing a location of a computer file, i.e., a directory and a file name. As an example, the URL sentence is shown as http://host name/directory/file name .
Meanwhile, the URL sentence applied to the present invention means requesting a Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) document to the service server 21 based on HTTP and requesting the short message service and the call connection service. Accordingly, the URL sentence shows information as a path name of a general URL sentence to describe information required for providing the short message service and the call connection service at a minimum length. That is, the URL sentence of the present invention is shown as http: //service server/caller information/receiver information/message, i.e., a first URL sentence, to provide the short message service. The URL sentence of the present invention is shown as http: //service server/caller information/receiver information, i.e., a second URL sentence, to provide the call connection service.
The first and second URL sentences use HTTP, which is a protocol name. Accordingly, the user terminal 10 can automatically access to the service server 21 according to HTTP.
Also, the service server is the host name of the service server 21 or an Internet Protocol (IP) address. The caller information corresponds to the user information stored in the following user DB 20. The receiver information means receiver information included in the user information. The message of the first URL sentence is message contents of a short message to be transmitted to the called terminal.
The URL sentence, to which the present invention is applied, is defined such as designating of a path name of a general URL sentence. However, since the URL sentence is not recognized or analyzed in the general web server, the URL sentence is not processed.
The user DB 20 stores and manages user information and user terminal information. When the service server 21 requests the user information and the user terminal information, the user DB 20 searches the user information and the user terminal information and provides corresponding information.
The user information and the user terminal information will be described in detail hereinafter. The user information, i.e., caller information, includes a calling terminal number, a name of a caller, and ID and a password of the caller, which are formed by the user. The user information additionally includes receiver information such as a called terminal number, a name of a receiver, and ID of the receiver. That is, the receiver information may be provided as information of an address list format allocated to the user information.
The user terminal information cooperates with the user information and includes web browser information and allowable IP address band information of the user terminal 10.
The user DB 20 may be individually updated by the user, or collectively updated by an Internet service provider .
The service server 21 accesses to the user terminal 10, checks an IP address of the user terminal 10, and transmits a URL sentence inputted by the user from the user terminal 10, web browser information of the user terminal 10, i.e., a web browser name, and a cookie stored in the user terminal 10. The service server 21 accesses to the user terminal 10 and automatically performs the authentication process of the user and the user terminal 10.
The service server 21 receives the cookie, which is internally stored in the user terminal 10, according to HTTP from the user terminal 10 to authenticate the user.
The cookie is a small text file automatically transmitted when the web browser of the user terminal 10 communicates with the service server 21 through HTTP or when the service server 21 communicates with the web browser of the user terminal 10 through HTTP. It is preferred that the cookie is created when the user is registered to use the short message service or the call connection service of the present invention.
The contents of the cookie include ID, a password, and a telephone number of each user who can use the short message service or the call connection service in the user terminal 10. Also, the cookie is stored in a format of "telephone number/ID; ID of first user/password of first user; ID of second user/password of second user;..." such as "021234567/PqrG15; sender_idl/passwordl; sender_id2/passwor d2;...".
The service server 21 performs the authentication process of the user by comparing a corresponding password in the inside of the cookie transmitted from the user terminal 10 with a password stored in the user DB 20.
Meanwhile, the service server 21 checks an IP address of the user terminal 10 to authenticate the user terminal 10. That is, the service server 21 checks whether the IP address of the user terminal 10 is included in the allowable IP address band stored in the user DB 20 and performs the authentication process of the user terminal 10.
Additionally, the service server 21 may perform the authentication process of the user terminal 10 by comparing the web browser information transmitted from the user terminal 10 with the web browser information stored in the user DB 20.
The service server 21 analyzes the URL sentence transmitted from the user terminal 10 and determines which one of the short message service and the call connection service will be performed. According to the determined service, a short message is transmitted to the called terminal as the short message service, or a call between the calling terminal and the called terminal is connected as the call connection service.
In addition, the service server 21 divides the URL sentence transmitted from the user terminal 10 such as a general web server into a host name and a path name and analyzes whether a file actually exists in the path. When the file actually exists in the path that the URL sentence designates, the service server 21 provides a corresponding HTML text to the user terminal 10 according to HTTP such as the general web server. Meanwhile, when the file actually does not exist in the path that the URL sentence designates, the service server 21 analyzes the "path name" part as "caller information", "receiver information", and additional "message", checks whether there is a message in a field designating the message, and identifies whether the URL sentence is the first URL sentence or the second URL sentence. When a corresponding field value does not exist in a field designating the caller information and a field designating the receiver field of the URL sentence, it is preferred that the service server 21 does not perform the service of the present invention.
When the message exists in the message field of the URL sentence, i.e., when the URL sentence is the first URL sentence, the service server 21 creates a short message based on a calling terminal number, a called terminal number, and a message according to the analysis result of the first URL sentence and directly performs the short message service.
Additionally, the service server 21 may perform the short message service by transmitting the calling terminal number, the called terminal number, and the message to a messaging server.
In particular, when it turns out that the first URL sentence is not either the calling terminal number or the called terminal number, the service server 21 searches the calling terminal number or the called terminal number in the user DB 20 and performs the short message service. As an example, when it turns out that the first URL sentence is analyzed as caller ID instead of the calling terminal number, the service server 21 searches a calling terminal number corresponding to the caller ID in the user DB 20.
Also, when there is no message in the message field of the URL sentence, i.e., when the URL sentence is the second URL sentence, the service server 21 performs the call connection service based on the calling terminal number and the called terminal number according to the analysis result of the second URL sentence. That is, the service server 21 connects a call between the calling terminal and the called terminal based on the application server 22 and performs the call connection service.
In particular, when it turns out that the second URL sentence is not either the calling terminal number or the called terminal number, the service server 21 searches the calling terminal number or the called terminal number in the user DB 20 and performs the call connection service. For example, when it turns out that the second URL sentence is analyzed as the caller ID instead of the calling terminal number, the service server 21 searches a calling terminal number corresponding to the caller ID in the user DB 20.
Meanwhile, the service server 21 processes the URL sentence process result, i.e., the corresponding service process result, into an HTML text and transmits the URL sentence process result to the user terminal 10.
The application server 22 is a server for connecting the Internet and the cable/mobile telephone network. The application server 22 is connected with the service server 21 through the Internet. The application server 22 is connected and cooperates with an exchange computer of the cable/mobile telephone network. When the application server 22 receives the calling terminal number and the called terminal number from the service server 21, the application server 22 connects a call with the calling terminal, connects a call with the called terminal, and connects a call between the calling terminal and the called terminal. That is, the application server 22 connects a call with the calling terminal, transmits a guidance message such as "making a call to the receiver" and transmits a ring signal to the called terminal. Accordingly, the application server 22 performs the call connection service between the calling terminal and the called terminal.
Additionally, when the call connection service between the calling terminal and the called terminal is performed, the application server 22 notifies billing information imposed on the calling terminal number to the service server 21.
Fig. 2 is a flowchart describing a method for providing the short message service and the call connection service using the URL sentence in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention.
The service server 21 is connected with the user terminal 10 according to a protocol, e.g., HTTP, in the URL sentence including the host name, i.e., the service server, the caller information, and the receiver information transmitted from the user terminal 10 at step SlOO.
The service server 21 checks an IP address of the user terminal 10 and internally receives the cookie with the URL sentence transmitted from the user terminal 10.
Additionally, the service server 21 may receive web browser information from the user terminal 10 and authenticate the user terminal 10 based on the web browser information.
The service server 21 authenticates the user and the user terminal 10 at step SlOl. That is, the service server 21 authenticates the user based on the cookie transmitted from the user terminal 10, checks the IP address of the user terminal 10 and authenticates the user terminal 10.
When the user and the user terminal 10 are properly authenticated, the service server 21 analyzes the URL sentence transmitted from the user terminal 10 at step S102. The service server 21 analyzes the URL sentence as a host name part and a path name part and checks whether a file actually exists in the path. Fig. 2 shows a case that the file actually does not exist in the path.
Additionally, when the file actually exists in the path, the service server 21 requests an HTML text to the web server of the corresponding path.
Meanwhile, when the URL sentence is the first URL sentence, the service server 21 creates and transmits a short message based on the calling terminal number, the called terminal number, and the message included in the first URL sentence at step S103. When the service server 21 uses a caller ID or a receiver ID instead of the calling terminal number or the called terminal number, the service server 21 searches the calling terminal number or the called terminal number corresponding to the caller ID or the receiver ID in the user DB 20, creates and transmits a short message.
Additionally, the service server 21 transmits the calling terminal number, the called terminal number, and the message included in the first URL sentence to a messaging server, creates and transmits a short message.
When the URL sentence is the second URL sentence, the service server 21 connects a call between the calling terminal and the called terminal based on the calling terminal number and the called terminal number included in the second URL sentence and interactively connects a call at step S104. When the service server 21 uses the caller ID or the receiver ID instead of the calling terminal number or the called terminal number, the service server 21 searches the calling terminal number or the called terminal number corresponding to the caller ID or the receiver ID in the user DB 20 and interactively connects a call between the calling terminal and the called terminal The service server 21 notifies a URL sentence process result to the user terminal 10 at step S105. As an example, the service server 21 processes the URL sentence process result into an HTML text and notifies the URL sentence process result to the user terminal 10. Fig. 3 shows the URL sentence to which the present invention is applied.
When the first URL sentences 150 and 151 are transmitted, the service server 21 performs the short message service. The host name of the first URL sentence 150 is "sms.com". The calling terminal number, i.e., the caller information, is "02-123-4567". The called terminal number, i.e., the receiver information, is "010-1234-5678. The message to be transmitted is "Where are you?". The service server 21 performs a general process of creating and transmitting a short message based on the calling terminal number analyzed in the first URL sentence 150, i.e., "02-123-4567", the called terminal number, i.e., "010-1234-5678", and the message, i.e., "Where are you?".
The host name of the first URL sentence 151 is "sms.com" and the caller ID, i.e., the caller information, is "Hong, Gil-dong". The receiver ID, i.e., the receiver information, is "Hwalbindang" and the message to be transmitted is "Come to Gwanghwamun by 10!". The first URL sentence 151 shows a case that the caller ID and the receiver ID are used instead of the calling terminal number and the called terminal number.
The service server 21 searches the caller ID, i.e., "Hong, Gil-dong" and the receiver ID, i.e., "Hwalbindang", which are analyzed in the first URL sentence 151, in the user DB 20. Subsequently, the service server 21 transforms the caller ID into the calling terminal number and transforms the receiver ID into the called terminal number . The receiver ID, i.e., the information on "Hwalbindang" , is information included in an address list allocated to the caller ID, i.e., "Hong, Gil-dong" . Subsequently, the service server 21 creates a short message based on the transformed result and performs a general process for transmission.
Additionally, when the calling terminal number, the called terminal number, and the message are extracted according to the analysis result of the first URL sentences 150 and 151, the service server 21 transmits the information to the messaging server and may create and transmit a short message according to a general method.
When the second URL sentences 152 and 153 are transmitted, the service server 21 performs the call connection service.
The host name of the second URL sentence 152 is "sms.com". The calling terminal number, i.e., the caller information, is "010-7777-2222" and the called terminal number, i.e., the receiver information, is "02-111-2222".
The service server 21 transmits the calling terminal number, i.e., "010-7777-2222", and the called terminal number, i.e., "02-111-2222", which are analyzed in the second URL sentence 152, to the application server 22. When a call between the application server 22 and the calling terminal is connected, the application server 22 transmits a guidance message, e.g., "making a call to the receiver" to the calling terminal. Subsequently, the application server 22 transmits a ring signal to the called terminal based on the called terminal number analyzed in the second URL sentence 152, i.e., "02-111- 2222".
When a call between the application server 22 and the called terminal is connected, a call between the calling terminal and the called terminal is set up and the call connection service is performed.
The host name of the second URL sentence 153 is "sms.com". The caller ID, i.e., the caller information, is "Lee, Mong-lyong" and the receiver ID, i.e., the receiver information, is "Sung, Choonhyang" . The second URL sentence 153 shows a case that the caller ID and the receiver ID are used instead of the calling terminal number and the called terminal number.
The service server 21 searches the caller ID, i.e., "Lee, Mong-lyong" and the receiver ID, i.e., "Sung, Choonhyang", which are extracted in the second URL sentence 153, in the user DB 20. Subsequently, the service server 21 transforms the caller ID into the calling terminal number and transforms the receiver ID included in the address list allocated to the caller ID into the called terminal number. Since the service server 21 provides the call connection service in the same manner as the second URL sentence 152 provides the call connection service, detailed description will not be provided herein.
As described above, the technology of the present invention can be realized as a program and stored in a computer-readable recording medium, such as CD-ROM, RAM, ROM, floppy disk, hard disk and magneto-optical disk. Since the process can be easily implemented by those skilled in the art, further description will not be provided herein.
While the present invention has been described with respect to certain preferred embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the following claims.
