Abstract

A granular pharmaceutical formulation for topical administration to an animal, comprising: (a) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier; (b) a therapeutically effective amount of a therapeutic agent; (c) a hydrophilic nonionic surfactant; and optionally: (d) a carbomer; and/or (e) a penetration enhancer selected from essential oils, terpenes and terpenoids; said formulation being solid at ambient temperature and having a softening point of not higher than 35°C.
