Abstract

A control system for controlling and managing devices over a network, including a server computer having a software-based room control module (110), a configurator (170) for creating and configuring a client device management and control system initially and for modifying and updating the client device management and control system after initial configuration, a global control center ( 180) for managing and supporting control system infrastructure, linking users and event participants in a complete management structure, and providing services in response to service requests from end users and system subscribers, and a global device library (250) for storing device software for downloading and installation. The system further includes a client computer having a user interface (130) to establish a network connection to the server computer, for setting up and configuring an implementation of the control system, for performing room control functions, and for accessing services by the global control center (180). Finally, the system includes at least one networked room device in wireless or wired electronic communication with the client computer and/or the server computer.
