Abstract

The invention especially relates to a glass pipette or a glass capillary (1) for patch clamp experiments, comprising a conical tip (2) and an essentially tubular section (3) adjacent to the tip (2). Said pipette or capillary is characterised in that the diameter thereof extends from a diameter D1 at the base surface of the tip, of less than 50 µm, to a diameter D2 of at least 100 µm in the tubular section, over a length L of less than 150 µm. The invention also relates to the use of such a pipette or capillary for carrying out patch clamp experiments, and to patch clamp measurements using such pipettes or capillaries.
