Abstract
Disclosed is a system which comprises structural textile units and in which preferably infrared interfaces or other interfaces that use a high-frequency carrier and define a unidirectional data flow are provided for transmitting data. In order to do so, the transmitting component and the receiving component of the infrared interface point in different spatial directions. In a preferred embodiment, a processor which can be bypassed by means of a transfer channel is placed between the transmitting element and the receiving element in order to allow for fast data transfer and thus allow the structural units that are connected to the bus which is formed thereby to be operated quasi in parallel. The transfer channel can be opened following a command issued by the processor in order to work according to the principle of a bucket brigade device. The processor can be triggered by a command issued by a central unit or by an incident occurring on the structural unit. An IrDA interface is suitable as an infrared interface. In a preferred embodiment, no fiber-optic cable is used. A fiber-optic cable can nevertheless be optionally provided.
