Abstract

A method and system for selecting a backoff window in communication network (100) is disclosed. The communication a base station (102) and at least one mobile device (104, 106, 108, and 110). The method includes estimating (204) number of backlogged mobile devices at the base station. The method also includes calculating (206) a backoff window based on the number of backlogged mobile devices in the communication network. Further, the backoff window is calculated at the base station.
