Brief Description of the Drawings [17] The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments of the invention in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which: [18] FIGs. Ia and Ib are schematic views illustrating a golf swing training apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention; and [19] FIG. Ic is a cross-sectional view illustrating the assembly of an exercise bar with a guide rail in a golf swing training apparatus according to the present invention. [20]
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention [21] Reference will now be made in detail to the preferred embodiment of the present invention with reference to the attached drawings. [22] FIG. Ia is a schematic perspective view illustrating a golf swing training apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention, FIG. Ib is a schematic view il-
lustrating a guide rail of the golf swing training apparatus of FlG. Ia, and FlG. Ic is a cross-sectional view illustrating the assembly of an exercise bar with a guide rail in the golf swing training apparatus of FlG. Ia.
[23] Referring to FlG. Ia, the golf swing training apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a dual guide rail 100 and 100' for guiding a golf swing, a plurality of frames 200 for allowing the guide rail 100 and 100' to be securely fixed to a floor bottom of a place where the user practices the golf swing, and an exercise bar 300 coupled to the guide rail 100 and 100' in such a fashion as to slidably move along the dual guide rail 100 and 100'.
[24] First, the trajectory tracked by a guide rail 100 can be extracted based on a swing plane of a club head, and alternatively may be extracted based on the trajectory tracked by a middle portion between a club head and an end of a hand grip portion in view of a limitation of a swing practice area. And, the trajectory tracked by a guide rail 100' is extracted based on a swing plane tracked by the end of the hand grip portion.
[25] Each of the frames 200 includes a linkage member 210 consisting of two-stage bars
211 and 212 which are adjustable in height. The linkage member 210 is securely fixed at a lower end thereof to the floor bottom of a swing practice place and is coupled at an upper end thereof to a predetermined portion of the guide rail 100 and 100'. The height and gradient of the guide rail 100 and 100' may be adjusted to conform to a bodily shape of a golfer while maintaining a basic swing plane. The golf swing training apparatus of the present invention may comprise a separate fixed plate 220 for the sake of facilitation of its mobility.
[26] In association with FIG. Ia, the trajectories tracked by the guide rail 100 and 100' are shown in FlG. Ib in which doted lines indicate circular trajectories tracked by different swing guide portions and solid lines indicate elliptical trajectories tracked by the different guide portions.
[27] The golf full swing consists of the back swing, the down swing and the follow- through. The back swing refers to a first step where a golfer pulls the golf club away from a golf ball in a combined rearward and upward direction. The down swing refers to an intermediate step where the golfer reverses the direction of golf club movement at the top of the back swing, (called the "take away" position) and swings the club in a combined downward and forward movement into contact with the golf ball. The follow-through refers to the last step of the golf swing that is made directly after the golfer's golf club hits the golf ball so that the golf swing ends with the golfer's hands near his or her head to maximize its resiliency.
[28] The dual guide rail 100 and 100 includes a pair of back swing guide portions 110 and
110' a pair of down swing guide portions 120 and 120' and a pair of follow-through guide portions 130 and 130' which are sequentially connected to one another in this
order from a swing start point.
[29] The back swing guide portions 110 and 110' are formed to sequentially track circular trajectories 111 and 111' and elliptical trajectories 112 and 112'from the swing start point.
[30] That is, the back swing guide portions are formed such that a golfer's wrist and golf club move while tracking the circular trajectories at an initial stage of the back swing, and then the golfer's wrist and golf club move while tracking the elliptical trajectories from a cocking point where the cocking of the wrist occurs to angle it.
[31] The down swing guide portions 120 and 120 are formed to sequentially track elliptical trajectories 121 and 121 and circular trajectories 122 and 122' from a termination point, i.e., a takeaway point of the back swing guide portions 110 and 110'.
[32] That is, the down swing guide portion are formed such that a golfer's wrist and golf club move while tracking the elliptical trajectories at an initial stage of the down swing so as to maintain the cocking of the golfer's wrist, and then the golfer's wrist and golf club move while tracking the circular trajectories from an uncocking point where the cocking of the wrist is released.
[33] The follow-through guide portions 130 and 130' are formed to sequentially track circular trajectories 131 and 131' and elliptical trajectories 132 and 132' from a termination point of the down swing guide portions 120 and 120'.
[34] The follow-through guide portions are formed such that a golfer's wrist and golf club move while tracking the circular trajectories at an initial stage of the follow-through so as to maintain the uncocking of the golfer's wrist during the down swing, and then the golfer's wrist and golf club move while tracking the elliptical trajectories from an cocking point where the cocking of the wrist occurs to angle it after hitting the golf ball.
[35] The trajectory tracked by the guide rail 100 and 100' is formed to be identical to the swing plane created by a golf professional.
[36] In association with FlG. Ia, referring to FlG. Ic, the dual guide rail 100 and 100' is constructed of a hollow semi-tubular body such that it is easily coupled with a movable exercise bar 300 and two opposed guide rails 100 and 100' are opened at front ends to confront each other in the longitudinal direction thereof.
[37] The movable exercise bar 300 is composed of bulged portions formed convexingly outwardly from both ends thereof and a middle hand grip portion so as to be inserted between the two opposed semi-tubular guide rails. A roller may be mounted at both ends of the exercise bar 300 to improve traveling efficiency of the exercise bar 300.
[38] Accordingly, when a golfer takes a golf swing, the exercise bar 300 moves along a swing plane created by the golfer, so that if the swing plane of the golfer is different from the swing trajectory of the dual guide rail 100 and 100', it becomes difficult for
him or her to smoothly take the golf swing due to the friction between the exercise bar
300 and the opposed guide rails 100 and 100' Only when the swing plane of the golfer is identical to the trajectory of the dual guide rail 100 and 100' the golfer can smoothly practice the golf swing. [39]
Industrial Applicability [40] As described above, according to a golf swing training apparatus of the present invention, a golfer can repeatedly practice a golf swing along the dual guide rail having a swing trajectory or a swing plane tracked by a golf professional to acquire a correct golf swing posture. [41] In addition, the golf swing training apparatus of the present invention can be modified to conform to the bodily shape of a golfer so as to multiple the swing practicing effect. [42] Furthermore, the inventive golf swing training apparatus can be installed at indoors so that a golfer can continually practice a golf swing irrespective of weather or time of day. [43] While the invention has been described in connection with what is presently considered to be practical exemplary embodiments, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiments, but, on the contrary, is intended to cover various modifications and equivalent arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
