Abstract
A ribbon-like multiple conductor, comprising a backing tape (11, 111), on one face (12) of which an adhesive layer (13) and at least one conductor (15, 16, 17, 115, 116, 117, 118) are deposited.
Description
RIBBON-LIKE MULTIPLE CONDUCTOR
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a ribbon- like multiple conductor.
Background Art Currently, it is necessary to resort to the use of electrical wires arranged on the outside of walls in order to install in a room, without performing masonry work, electrically powered devices such as for example an alarm system, a light fixture or a component of a stereo or television set or other similar items in a position which is not served. These electrical wires are generally fixed to the wall or floor and are covered with corresponding conduits so as to limit the hindrance that they constitute and the visual discomfort caused by their colors, which are in any case forced by currently applicable statutory provisions.
So-called flat cables of any color are also commercially available whose purpose is indeed to be substantially flat, with a band of the outer sheath intended to be fixable directly, by means of nails or other systems, to the surfaces on which said flat cables are applied.
A flat cable is fixed by individual points, not along its entire length, and therefore although the flat cables allow to avoid using covering conduits they are still visible and may cause hindrance if they detach even just partially from the surfaces to which they are fixed.
Disclosure of the Invention
The aim of the present invention is to provide a ribbon-like multiple conductor which is able to obviate the drawbacks of the above-mentioned electric current or signal conducting means.
Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a ribbon-like multiple conductor which ensures maximum adhesion to the surfaces on which it is placed and at the same time minimal space occupation transversely to such surfaces. Another object of the present invention is to provide a multiple
conductor which is easy to use even for a user who does not have particular prior teachings.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a ribbon-like multiple conductor which can be manufactured cheaply with known systems and technologies.
This aim and these and other objects, which will become better apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a ribbon-like multiple conductor, characterized in that it comprises a backing ribbon on one face of which an adhesive layer and at least one conductor are deposited. Brief description of the Drawings
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become better apparent from the following detailed description of two preferred but not exclusive embodiments thereof, illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein: Figure 1 is a view of a first embodiment of a multiple conductor according to the invention;
Figure 2 is a view of a second embodiment of a multiple conductor according to the invention. Ways of carrying out the Invention With reference to the figures, a ribbon-like multiple electrical conductor according to the invention is generally designated by the reference numeral 10 in its first embodiment of Figure 1.
The ribbon-like multiple conductor 10 comprises a backing ribbon 11 , on one face 12 of which an adhesive layer 13 and at least one conductor are deposited.
The backing ribbon 11 is selectively a plastics film, a strip of paper- like material, or another equivalent backing.
Figure 1 shows three conductors, designated respectively by the reference numerals 15, 16 and 17. The conductors 15, 16 and 17 can be selectively:
- made of metallic material for conducting electrical signals or for transmitting electric power,
- made of optical fibers in order to transmit signals.
In the first embodiment of the invention described here by way of non-limiting example, the ribbon-like multiple conductor 10 comprises three conductors 15, 16 and 17, each constituted by one or more wires made of copper or other equivalent metallic material for carrying electric power.
In the second embodiment of Figure 2, the ribbon-like multiple conductor 110 has four conductors 115, 116, 117 and 118 for transmitting signals, each of which is formed by a strip of conducting material which is formed beforehand or deposited on the backing ribbon 111.
The conducting strips are included within the adhesive layer 113. In this second embodiment, the multiple conductor 110 according to the invention is shown with an additional reinforcement film 119 superimposed thereon and arranged outside the backing ribbon 111.
The additional film 119, made of plastic material or other mechanically equivalent material, is adapted to increase the mechanical qualities of the multiple conductor 110.
In a further embodiment of the invention, which can be shown schematically by means of the same Figure 2, an additional film 119 is superimposed on the backing ribbon 111 and is provided with distinctive, decorative or ornamental markings.
The film 119 with distinctive, decorative or ornamental characters allows to use the multiple conductor by concealing it with wallpaper or in any case giving it a valuable or mimicking visual impact with respect to the surface on which it is arranged to adhere.
It is also possible to produce the multilayer element 110 so that it has, between the backing ribbon 111 and the adhesive layer 113, an additional shielding layer 121, which is useful when carrying signals but also in the case of electric power transmission.
The shielding layer 121 can be for example a thin sheet of aluminum.
In both of the embodiments described here by way of non-limiting example of the invention, the ribbon-like multiple conductor can be wound with the adhesive layer 13 and 113 covered by a removable protective film, shown only in Figure 1 and designated by the reference numeral 20 therein.
The film 20 is suitable to facilitate the unrolling of the multiple conductor and preserve the adhesive capacity of the adhesive layer 13.
The ribbon-like multiple conductor 10 and 110 can therefore be rolled up and packaged in rolls. The use of the ribbon- like multiple electrical conductor 10 and 110 according to the invention is very simple and intuitive.
The multiple conductor is unrolled from the package in roll form or any other package for the required length and is cut, taking into account the extra centimeters for the ends to be stripped for the connection and provision of the respective elements for connection to the mains and to the item to be powered.
Once the ends have been prepared, the protective film 20 is removed as the multiple conductor 10 and 110 is applied along the predefined path from the power or signal tap to the item to be powered or with which signals are to be exchanged.
The ribbon- like multiple conductor 10 and 110, which has a particularly low thickness, is easily concealed on the surfaces on which it is applied, since it can be masked conveniently with wallpaper, with some paint or with filler of the appropriate color. Its very low thickness frees the affected surfaces from conduits, which are a substantial cost in the provision of the new outlet and are visually unpleasant and inconvenient when cleaning the interstices of rooms.
Further, the multiple conductor 10 and 110 adheres continuously to the surfaces to which it is applied, eliminating the need to resort to nails or
other fixing elements together with the risk of even partial separation of the conductors from the surface.
The ribbon-like multiple conductor 10 and 110 according to the invention, indeed because it can be purchased in rolled-up form by the end user, is very convenient to store due to its limited volume.
In practice it has been found that the invention thus described achieves the intended aim and objects.
In particular, the present invention provides a ribbon-like multiple conductor which ensures maximum adhesion to the surfaces on which it is arranged and simultaneously ensures minimum space occupation transversely to such surfaces.
Moreover, the present invention provides a ribbon-like multiple conductor which is particularly suitable for use for providing alarm systems.
Moreover, the present invention provides a ribbon-like multiple conductor which is easy to use even for a user who does not have particular prior teachings.
Moreover, the present invention provides a ribbon-like multiple conductor which can be manufactured cheaply with known systems and technologies. The invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims; all the details may further be replaced with other technically equivalent elements.
In practice, the materials employed, so long as they are compatible with the specific use, as well as the dimensions, may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
