Description

SYSTEMAND METHOD FOR PROTECTING PURCHASE PROCEDURE IN ELECTRONIC COMMERCIAL TRADE AND RECORDABLE MEDIA
THEREOF
Background of the Invention
The present invention relates to a system and a method for administrating an electronic commercial trade and recordable media thereof, more particularly in on-line shopping mall or on-line portal site, which provides trading environments between a plurality of purchaser and a plurality of merchant on on-line network, communication with customers, that is, Business to Customer (B to C), Business to Business (B to B) etc., a system and a method for protecting the interest party such as a purchaser, a seller and an e-dealer on a web site .
As internet users are increased rapidly, information requests on goods or services are expanded swiftly. Since it is necessary for people to use the internet in daily life, there are a number of e-market places installed on the internet as an example of e-trading platform. A number of merchants or e-dealers register and sell goods through the e-market places and a number of customers connect to the e-market places and search the information on the registered goods and services to purchase these registered goods and services. Thus, it is more important in electronic commercial trades than off-line trades that the interest party such as the purchaser and the e-dealer feel secure about the credibility and convenience of payment procedure and method. Especially, since the e- trade has a characteristic of not seeing face to face each other, the purchaser doubts how to receive the goods after making up an account and to receive a refund when finding defects of the goods. The e-dealer cannot also have trust in receiving the payment for the goods and compensating for the delivery fee and return fee of the goods when the purchaser cancels the purchase. Therefore, it is required that the system and the method for administrating the electronic commercial trade can adjust the various interests between the purchaser and the e-dealer, arisen from the purchase procedure.
To meet this request, escrow, what is called, is introduced into the online shopping malls and the e-market places. Escrow is "a legal arrangement in which an asset is delivered to a third party to be held in trust pending a contingency or the fulfillment of a condition or conditions in a contract such as payment of a purchase price. Upon that event occurring, the third party will deliver the asset to the proper recipient, otherwise the third party is bound by his or her fiduciary duty to maintain the escrow account." Hereinafter, the third party is commonly called an escrow agent who can be an online shopping mall operator registering and selling goods, an e-market place operator providing the potential purchaser with a web site market place on which the goods can be searched and purchased at auction or Dutch auction, and/or a system operator administrating an online settlement system of accounts.
This payment by escrow usually comprises steps as follows: An e-dealer signs in the escrow agent site through establishing his/her identity and registers goods. A purchaser orders the registered goods in the escrow agent site and makes up an account by escrow and the escrow agent inform the e-dealer of the order information and the settlement of account. The e-dealer receiving the order ships the goods to the purchaser. The escrow agent sends a remittance when the purchaser does not complain about the goods and gives a refund when the purchaser sends the goods back to the e-dealer because of any complaints such as the defects of the goods. At this time, the escrow agent sends a remittance when the purchaser declares the intent of payment and gives a refund when the purchaser declares the intent of sending back the goods. This method can make secure from the credibility of the settlement of account, however, the convenience and speed of the settlement of account is not satisfactory. In other words, the purchaser receives the goods and connects to the escrow web site, thereafter declares the intent of the remittance or the refund. Accordingly, this method requires special effort that the purchaser receives the goods and thereafter should confirm whether to receive the goods and declare the intent of the settlement. As a result, the confirmation of remittance is delayed and the efficiency of the escrow process is rapidly lowered.
Summary of the Invention
The present invention provides a system and a method for administrating an electronic commercial trade and recordable media thereof, more particularly in on-line shopping mall or on-line portal site, which provides trading environments between a plurality of purchaser and a plurality of merchant on on-line network. In an embodiment, the present invention provides a system for administrating an electronic commercial trade comprising a server computer for providing contents on goods information, dealer information, purchase evaluation information, delivery order information and payment method, a purchaser computer for connecting to the contents of the server computer through the communication network so as to purchase the goods and a delivery computer, receiving the purchaser information and the delivery order information, for administrating the delivery status of the goods and handling the delivery order, wherein the server computer settles account of purchaser based on the delivery status information of the delivery computer.
The server computer may comprise an escrow computer for handling a request for settlement of accounts and transmitting information on remittance to the purchaser computer.
The system according to an embodiment of the present invention may comprise a dealer computer for registering information on purchaser and goods and receiving order information on the goods and the purchaser information from the server computer. The server computer or the escrow computer sends a remittance to a dealer bank account when receiving the delivery completion information from the delivery computer.

Detailed Description of the Embodiments Fig. 1 is a schematic view of a computer network system according to an embodiment of the present invention. A server computer provides informative contents such as goods, an e- dealer, purchasing satisfaction, a method of payment. A purchaser computer connects to the server computer so that the purchaser can find the web contents and buy the goods. The dealer computer connects to the server computer so that the e-dealer can register information on the dealer and the goods etc., and receive information on an order for goods and the purchaser from the server computer. An escrow computer handles a request for settlement of accounts from the server computer or the purchaser computer through the internet and transmits information on remittance to the server computer, the purchaser computer, and/or the dealer computer. A delivery computer connects to the server computer or the dealer computer, receives the information on the purchaser and the delivery and the delivery order for the goods. Also, the delivery computer administrates the delivery status of the goods by transmitting information on the delivery position, whether to deliver the goods, when to accomplish the delivery of the goods etc. to the server computer, the purchaser computer and/or the escrow computer.
Also, the delivery computer includes the database storing the delivery status information and the server computer can read the delivery information from the delivery computer.
Hereinabove, the computer comprises a CPU (Central Processing Unit), processes input data and output the processing results. The computer can be a PC (Personal Computer), a mobile phone, a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), a navigation system, a PMP (Portable Multimedia Player), a notebook computer etc. The server computer includes a database storing the purchaser information, a database storing the goods information, a database storing the information on the dealer and a program processing the e-trade. The purchaser computer and the dealer computer exchange information produced in the process of the e-trade and the settlement of account by an internet web browser comprising a form of HTML(Hyper Text Markup Language), SMS(Short Message Service), a voice file, real time character and/or voice messenger.
In case of the online shopping mall, since the online shopping mall operator may be the e-dealer, the server computer of the online shopping mall operator may include the dealer computer at the same time. In case the online shopping mall operator or the e-market place operator is the escrow operator, the server computer may include the escrow computer.
When the dealer operates a self delivery system, the dealer computer may include the delivery computer. Also, when the e-market place operator or the shopping mall operator operates a consolidated delivery system, the server computer may include the delivery computer.
Meanwhile, when the server computer provides a lot of designated delivery system, the e-dealer designates and registers a delivery system in the server computer. The designated delivery system provides the delivery information to the purchaser computer through the server computer and the server computer connect to each delivery computer of the designated delivery system. Hereinafter, if necessary, the self delivery system, the consolidated delivery system and the designated delivery system is usually called as the delivery system.
The delivery system can be connected through GPS (Global Positioning Signal) system, Ubiquitous network using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), wireless telecommunication network connecting the mobile phones and PDAs, and the information on the delivery status is transmitted to the delivery computer, the server computer and/or the escrow computer through a GPS terminal, the mobile phones and PDA terminal etc. carried by a delivery employee.
Fig. 2 is a flowchart illustrating an e-trading process according to an embodiment of the invention. This embodiment can be applied to the e-trading such as the e-market place and the shopping mall at auction or Dutch auction. Referring to Fig. 2, the system for protecting the e- trading process according to an embodiment of the invention is as follows.
First of all, when the server computer include the escrow computer, the server computer provides the contents for the goods to the purchaser computer (S201), the purchaser computer selects goods to purchase through the contents provided from the server computer and transmits the information on the settlement of account created in the process of ordering the goods (S202).
The server computer requests the delivery for the ordered goods to the delivery computer (S203).
When the dealer computer exists separately, the server computer transmits to the delivery computer the request for the delivery of goods with the information on the purchaser and the settlement of account, and the e-dealer transmits the delivery status to the server computer or the delivery computer (S203).
The delivery system receiving a request for delivering the goods performs a shipment of the goods and traces the delivery status of the goods by transmitting the information on the delivery position, whether to deliver the goods, when to accomplish the delivery of the goods etc. to the purchaser computer, the server computer and/or the dealer computer (S204).
Next, the server computer sends a remittance to the e-dealer corresponding to the delivery status (S205). Thereafter, when the purchaser cancels the order for the goods or send back the goods, the server computer refunds the payment deducted the delivery fee (S206).
Meanwhile, when the purchaser settles account with the e-dealer through the separate escrow computer, the escrow computer transmits the information on the settlement of account to the purchaser computer and/or the server computer.
Fig. 3 is a detailed flow chart for showing a settlement process (S202). Referring to Fig. 3, the process for settling account will be explained though the server computer or the separate escrow computer.
Firstly, it is determined whether the purchaser settles by cash, credit card, cyber cash or a payment method for e.g. combining the credit card with the cyber cash (S301). The cyber cash is defined as a personal reserve fund of a credit card company, an imaginary reserve fund provided by the e-dealer or the e-trading operator etc.
When the purchaser buys the goods by cash, the server computer (or the escrow computer) sets up a cyber bank account (S 302). When the purchaser pays money for buying the goods into his/her cyber bank account and the balance of the purchaser's account is more than the total prices of the ordered goods to buy, the settlement of account is completed (S303).
If the completion of the settlement is succeeded through the above steps, the delivery request steps (S203, S205) will proceed as shown in Fig. 2. Meanwhile, when the purchaser buys the goods by credit card, the approval of credit card is considered as the settlement of account (S 304). Also, when the purchaser buys the goods by cyber cash, the use of cyber cash is considered as the settlement of account and therefore is the same as the payment by cash. In addition to the above settlement method, the settlement is accomplished by cash, credit card and/or cyber cash. In this case, the sum of the cyber cash and the cash/credit card should be more than the total prices of the goods.
If the completion of the settlement is succeeded through the above steps, the delivery request steps (S203, S205) will proceed as shown in Fig. 2. The information on the settlement and the delivery status is stored in the database provided by a computer or a separate recording media and is transmitted to the related computers (e.g. the purchaser computer, the server computer etc.) by the delivery computer or the dealer computer. Also, the related computers receives this information at random or periodically through the delivery computer or the dealer computer. Fig. 4 is a detailed flow chart for sending a remittance to the e-dealer (S205). The server computer and/or the escrow computer which have received the delivery completion information determine whether the e-dealer established a remittance period (S401). When the remittance period is not established and the settlement should be accomplished without delay, the server computer or the escrow computer sends a remittance without delay (S402). When the remittance period is established, the server computer or the escrow computer sends a remittance in a predetermined remittance period (S403).
The remittance period is determined in consideration of an e-dealer's credibility grade and/or a delivery system rating. The e-dealer's credibility grade is determined in consideration of the number of dealer's e-trading cases, purchaser's evaluation for the e-dealer, the number of returned or exchanged goods. The delivery system rating is determined in consideration of the time period from a delivery request to a delivery completion, purchaser's evaluation for the delivery system and/or the delivery accident frequency such as the goods dead on arrival or the mistake of delivery destination etc. and a type of the delivery system such as the purchaser's self delivery system, the consolidated delivery system or the designated delivery system.
An exemplary relationship between the e-dealer's grade rating and the remittance period will be explained as follows.
The e-dealer's credibility grade is divided into a power dealer, an excellent dealer, a usual dealer, an inferior dealer, and the remittance period is determined in 7 days, 10 days,
15days and 30days according to the e-dealer's credibility respectively. As a matter of course, the remittance period can be set up in a monthly, quarterly basis etc. During the remittance period, when the purchaser cancels the order for goods by connecting to the server computer through the purchaser computer, the server computer refunds the payment deducted the delivery fee. After the remittance period, when the purchaser returns the ordered goods, the server computer refunds the payment deducted the delivery fee in the next remittance period automatically.
Next, after the remittance period is elapsed, the server computer or the escrow computer sends a remittance to the dealer's bank account without delay if a designated remittance date is not set up. Meanwhile, when a designated remittance date is set up in a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis etc., the server computer or the escrow computer sends a remittance to the dealer bank account on the designated remittance date after the remittance period is elapsed (S404).
In more detail, the concept of the designated remittance date will be explained as follows. For example, when the remittance period is 7 days and the designated remittance date is Monday, the remittance amount on Monday of Dec. 19, 2005 is summated on a basis of the delivery completion cases elapsing the remittance period 7 days out of the delivery order cases. That is, since the delivery cases as of Dec. 14, 2005 is not elapsed the remittance period 7 days, the remittance is delayed and is sent on the next designated remittance date, Dec. 26. Of course, when the remittance date is not set, the server or escrow computer can send the remittance to the dealer's bank account for the delivery cases which the remittance period, 7 days, has been elapsed.
During the remittance period or before the remittance date, in order that the dealer can utilize money before the actual remittance, the server or escrow computer may pay the dealer cyber cash in proportion to the price of the goods, if the dealer requests. The paying rate of the cyber cash is determined based on the dealer's credibility grade. The cyber cash paid to the dealer can be used in the purchase of the advertising banner or the registration fee for the goods. Meanwhile, since the dealer can purchase the goods from other dealer, the cyber cash can be set up prohibiting the dealer from purchasing the goods in preparation for cancelling the purchase of the goods. When the cyber cash is used during the remittance period, by subtracting the used cyber cash from the total amount summing up by the remittance date, the remainder is sent to the dealer's bank account.
If the used cyber cash is more than the total amount due to the cancellation of the purchaser's order or the returns of the ordered goods, a shortfall is automatically made up in the next remittance date.
Also, after receiving the goods, during the remittance period or by the remittance date, the purchaser can cancel the order for the goods and refund the payment deducted the delivery fee according to the delivery step (S405). The present invention is embodied in a readable code at a recordable media read by the computer. The recordable media can be e.g. ROM (Read Only Memory), RAM (Random Access Memory), CD-ROM, a magnetic tape, a floppy disc, and/or an optical data storage. Also, carrier wave (e.g. through the internet) is available for the recordable media. The above recordable media can be readable by a parallel processing computer system.
An embodiment of the present invention described above is only for purpose of illustration and not limitation of the present invention. Therefore, it is understood that as far as it is not above the nature of the present invention, the embodiment shown and described above in Figs 1 to 6 will be also applied to the internet portal site or the contents providing site.
