Abstract

Inner loop power control processing for the rake receiver of a CPCM is carried out in specialized circuitry so that appropriate speed is achieved while the remainder of the signal processing is carried out by a PC CPU (or an equivalent processor in a portable computing device) operating under software or firmware control. Embodiments are applicable to various data telecommunications systems.
