Abstract

The invention relates to a cellular phone having a cosmetic mirror attached to an empty space, normally not used, on the rear surface of an LCD screen of the phone. Since, when the mirror-attached cellular phone is closed, the mirror is located at the rear of the LCD screen in the cellular phone, the mirror is concealed by a body of the phone and thus not exposed to the outside of the phone. Therefore, the mirror is not easily stained by user's hands and there is less probability of damage because the mirror is protected by the body. When the cellular phone is opened, the concealed mirror is exposed to the outside to be used as a mirror.

Description

Description
MIRROR ATTACHED CELLULAR PHONE
Technical Field
[1] This invention relates to a cosmetic mirror attached to a cellular phone. It is particularly characterized in that the mirror, when the phone is not opened, is not exposed to the outside of the phone, but is exposed to the outside when the phone is opened, by attaching the mirror to the rear surface of an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen of the phone, which has usually not been used in a slide-type cellular phone and a swing- type cellular phone, etc. According to this invention, the mirror is protected from external impact and seldom stained by user's hands and less production cost is also required because the mirror is located inside a body of the phone when the phone is not opened.
[2]
Background Art
[3] With recent rapid development for cellular phones, multi-function cellular phones are commercially available that can satisfy various user's needs. Many technologies for a mirror attached to a cellular phone have been proposed. But in most cases, an attached mirror on a front surface of the phone has been usually commercialized in folder-type cellular phones, because of many problems in other types of cellular phones. It has, however, serious drawbacks by attaching a mirror on the outer surface of the phone. By nature, the cellular phones may be easily dropped or hit with other objects in many cases by accident. In this case, the attached mirror on the outer surface of the commercial folder-type cellular phone is very likely to be broken and so there is also a possibility that users may be injured by a broken mirror of the phone.
[4]
Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[5] In most cases of the commercial cellular phones equipped with a mirror, the mirror is positioned in the front surface of the folder-type cellular phone or, in order to achieve mirror effect, a LCD window on the front surface of the phones is also used. In addition, even though a smooth convex metal plate has been attached to many commercial cellular phones, it has been only used as a mirror alternative so it has a disadvantage that a function as a mirror is decreased than the case of using the glass mirror. Also the aforementioned mirror made of the convex metal plate is generally used only as a self-portrait mirror for a built-in camera of the phone, in which the mirror is used to look at only the photographed image when a user takes a picture of the user oneself with the camera. Thus the mirror by this invention is sharply different from the self-portrait mirror made of the convex metal plate.
[6] Many types and structures for including a mirror in a cellular phone have been known and proposed, in addition to a mirror attached to the front surface of a folder- type cellular phone, which is commercially available, including: a structure in which a mirror is attached on the surface of a battery; a structure in which a mirror lid is provided on a battery (Korea patent publication No.2003-0051548); a structure in which a mirror cover is additionally provided (Korea patent registration No. 20-0293968); a structure in which a mirror cover is attached on the front surface of a cellular phone (Korea patent registration No. 20-0317074); a structure in which a mirror is removable in a cellular phone, etc. In order to attach a mirror in the above structures, it has surely the drawback that additional devices must be added, resulting in some disadvantages of including more intricate structures, frequent failures in the phone and increased production cost. In the case of a commercially available folder- type cellular phone, it is likely to be damaged by external impact and stained by user's hands when carrying or using the phone because the attached mirror is on the front surface of the phone and lay bare in an outside of the phone at all times
[7]
Technical Solution
[8] The present invention was devised to reduce the aforementioned disadvantages substantially. The purpose of the invention is to provide a mirror- attached cellular phone. It is characterized by having advantages that the attached mirror is resistant to external impact and not usually stained by user's hands because it is located in a space, protected by a body of the phone, in the rear surface of an LCD screen which usually not used when the phone is not open. Also when the phone is open to use it, the hidden mirror is now exposed to the outside of the phone to allow the user to use it only.
[9] According to the present invention, the mirror- attached cellular phone to achieve the aforementioned object, comprising an LCD part having an LCD screen, a body having an alphanumeric plate and a connection operating to couple the LCD part to the body to carry out a closing and opening of the phone, is characterized in that, while the cellular phone is open which has a mirror in the rear surface of the LCD part, the mirror can be used as a cosmetic mirror, but, while the phone is closed, the mirror is concealed between the body and the LCD part so that the user cannot touch it to be impact-resistant.
[10] The connection carries out a coupling as follows: the LCD part being provided with a guide for opening/closing the phone and the body being formed with a projected groove, the projected groove of the body moves along the guide of the LCD part and the LCD part located on the upper part of the body thus implements sliding motion upward and downward. [11] The connection carries out the coupling as follows: the LCD part being provided with a projected groove for opening/closing the phone and the body being formed with a guide, the projected groove of the LCD part moves along the guide of the body and the LCD part located on the upper part of the body thus implements sliding motion upward and downward. [12] The connection carries out the coupling as follows: it is fixed at any central point of the LCD part and also the body performs rotary motion in a lateral direction or upward, while the connection is centered on the above central point to close and open the phone. [13] The connection further comprises an elongated connection plate coupled to the body in order to connect the LCD part to the body. The LCD part is further rotatively coupled to any point of the connection plate, and the mirror is located between the connection plate and the LCD part. [14] The LCD part further comprises a self-portrait mirror at its rear to view user's image photographed by the built-in camera of the phone. [15] The cellular phone according to the invention is characterized in that, in the rear surface of the mirror, a buffering member is further provided to protect the mirror from external impact, and a buffering member is also provided on the side of the body facing a reflective surface of the mirror. [16] The cellular phone according to the invention is characterized in that a hinged door is further provided on the front surface of the mirror to protect it, so that the door can be opened to use the mirror. [17] The cellular phone according to the invention is characterized in that a sliding door opened by moving upward and downward is further provided on the front surface of the mirror to protect it, so that the door can be opened to use the mirror. [18] The cellular phone according to the invention is characterized in that a flash for the purpose of illuminating a light during using the mirror in the dark place is further provided. [19]
Advantageous Effects
[20] The present invention was devised to reduce the aforementioned disadvantages substantially. Also when the phone is open to use it, the hidden mirror is now exposed to the outside of the phone to allow the user to use it only [21]

[28]
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[29] Hereinafter, the present invention will be detailed with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[30] Now, with reference to the accompanying drawings, the embodiments of a mirror- attached cellular phone according to the invention will be described in detail.
[31] Fig.l shows a mirror- attached cellular phone according to the invention. As shown in the figure, a cellular phone has a body 12 comprising alphanumeric buttons for entering letters and other symbols, a microphone for inputting voice on the front side thereof, and a battery being coupled to the rear of the body 12, and an LCD part 11 comprising, on a front side thereof, an LCD screen to check operation of the cellular phone, a loudspeaker for outputting sound and functional buttons for special functions not provided in the body 12. Depending on the manner how the body 12 and the LCD part 11 are configured and coupled, the cellular phone is categorized as a slide-type cellular phone, a folder-type cellular phone, a rotary-type cellular phone or a swing- type cellular phone, etc.
[32] Unlike the folder-type cellular phone, in a slide-type cellular phone or a swing-type cellular, there is a space which appears only when the phone is open to use the phone but not used normally, at the rear of the LCD part 11. This invention relates to attaching a mirror in the space. In the slide-type cellular phone, as shown in Fig.l, when the LCD part 11 is pushed upward, the rear space of the LCD part 11 appears which is normally concealed and not normally used. If a mirror 13 is attached to the rear space of the LCD part 11, the mirror 13 is normally not seen from the outside of the phone at all. In the slide-type cellular phone, the rear space of the LCD part 11 is usually used for a guide. The inner space of the part for the guide is usually not used. Therefore, by moving the guide into both sides to a maximum, it can make a sufficiently wide and empty space there. If a mirror 13 is attached in this space, the mirror 13 is located between the body 12 and the LCD part 11 and thus not exposed to the outside when the cellular phone is not used, so that the mirror 13 can be protected from external impact. As seen in a commercially available folder-type cellular phone, if it is equipped on the external surface of the phone, it may be accidentally damaged and the user may be injured by the damage in case of dropping the phone while carrying it. However, as in the invention, if a mirror is attached at the rear surface of the LCD part, the mirror can be safely protected from external impact.
[33]
Mode for the Invention
[34] Fig.2 shows a rear side of the cellular phone of the embodiment in Fig.1, seen from the front. In this figure, the mirror 13 by the present invention is equipped below a self- portrait mirror 14. All commercial self-portrait mirrors 14 have a convex shape made of shining metal to reflect objects. The self-portrait mirror 14, however views only user's image and object location to be seen, and cannot reflect detailed object shapes. Fig.3 is a lateral view of a cellular phone according to the invention. The mirror is located on the rear surface of the LCD part 11 and positioned inside the rear surface, so that it is protected by the body 12.
[35] Fig.4 shows another embodiment according to the invention. In the cellular phone of Fig.4, the LCD part 11 is located above the body 12 and the phone is opened by side-directional rotary motion centering on a fixed point. In this case, the rear surface of the LCD part 11, the space not normally used, is provided with a mirror 13.
[36] In case of a swing-type cellular phone or a rotary-type cellular phone, a connection couples the LCD part 11 to the body 12 to do rotary motion in a lateral direction or upward to open the phone. The location of the connection depends on the structure thereof.
[37] The cellular phone according to the invention is characterized in that a hinged door or a sliding door opened by moving upward and downward is further provided on the front surface of the mirror to protect it, so that the door can be opened to use the mirror.
[38] The cellular phone according to the invention is characterized in that a flash for the purpose of shining a light during using the mirror in the dark place is further provided
[39] Industrial Applicability
[40] Hereinabove, preferred embodiments of the invention were described in detail. It should be noted, however, that the scope of the invention is not limited to those specific embodiments, and should be construed by the scope of the invention defined in following appended claims. It should also be understood that many modifications and variations can be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention.
