Abstract
The invention relates to an extruded plastic film able to provide a covering sheet for greenhouses having longitudinal stripes (3, 4) of co-extruded material able to allow for the bearing points to withstand the test of time .
Description
Extruded plastic film, preferably of polyethylene, with longitudinal stripes of different colour and/or thickness and/or material
Greenhouses used in agriculture consist of metallic or wooden constructions on which sheets of plastic material, generally polyethylene, are laid. The contact points of the sheets with the constructions are the weakest points of the plastic covering as for resistance and life.
Actually, the overheating of the constructions because of the sunbeams causes the heat -to be transmitted to the sheets which are subjected to thermal deterioration. Additionally, the natural deterioration due to the ultraviolet rays of the sun "causes the useful life of the covering sheets to reduce drastically. The present patent application for industrial invention seeks to provide an extruded plastic film ensuring a better protection to the points subject to wear.
The solution consists of providing an extruded film having central and lateral stripes of reinforcement and/or better protection against sunbeams along the contact areas with the constructions of the greenhouses, especially at the top and the sides thereof. This object is achieved by a variety of ways different from one another and independent of the extrusion producing the plastic film, and namely:
• by a reflecting coloration of the lateral and central stripes (e.g., white, silver, etc.). Such coloration
reflects the sunlight and helps to reduce the temperature of the sheet bearing construction;
• by an anti-UV additive added to the stripes.
• by a thickening of such stripes with respect to the thickness of the resting portions of the plastic film.
Such different ways can be used individually or in combination with one another.
The product of the invention can be made by the currently used installations for producing extruded plastic films with suitable modifications.
The conventional installations consist of hot extruders provided with nozzles through which the melted plastic material is extruded by bell blow, thus forming a material tube with a circumference up to 16 metres.
The tube comes out of the nozzle with a thickness ranging from 0.025 to 0.50 mm and is stretched in the longitudinal direction by a drawing assembly located in the upper portion of the construction serving as cooling tower and in the transversal direction until the desired diameter and thickness is reached. A conventional extrusion installation of the described type can be used to provide the film with coloured stripes which are thickened or provided with additives just by adding two auxiliary extruders which inject the material to form the stripes covering the base film.
The extruders apply the layer of material to form the stripes to the outside layer of the hot melt from the nozzle so that the drawing-in of such layer takes place just before the base materials is extruded from the nozzle.
Fig. 1 of sheet 1/2 shows a schematic view of the installation disclosed above where the conventional extruders are indicated at 1 and the added extruders are indicated at 2.
Fig. 2 of sheet 2/2 shows an extruded film tube with added stripes 3 and 4.
Fig. 3 of sheet 2/2 shows a film provided with central and lateral stripes formed by cutting the tube along the generating line 5 of stripe 3.
A possible variation can propose that the added layer is located inside the extruded film or at both sides thereof.
The added layer can also be embodied in the hot melt of the film so that it is not superimposed to the film but merged therewith. The disclosed installation is most intuitive and simple at the moment as it directly derives from known installations, however, different installations designed for the co-extruded plastic film provided with stripes according to the present invention can also be made without departing from the scope of the invention defined in the following claims.
