Abstract
A method for the reduction of bacterial sulphide content in hydrocarbon materials extracted from the ground, comprising the introduction into water used to extract the hydrocarbon materials of an antisense nucleic acid sequence to a nucleic acid sequence encoding sulphite-reductase of sulphate-reducing bacteria, wherein said hydrocarbon materials are extracted by water injection.
