Abstract

A vibration sensor (20) comprises a resonator (1) typically in the form of a cantilever (2) comprising piezoceramic materials. The resonator produces electrical power which is stored within an accumulator combination (9) until sufficient to drive a signal device (6) which provides an indicator signal as to acquisition of a pre-determined vibration frequency by the resonator (1). In such circumstances where it is desired to monitor acquisition of a critical or key vibration frequency the present vibration sensor (20) is self powering and through provision of a wireless transmission connection to a receiver (23) can provide a warning indication without complicated processing or provision of sufficient electrical power to allow for absolute value processing.
