Description

The Solename® System^
Provisional Specification for Provisional Patent Application, date as identified by fax (6 pages).
The Solename System is a business system. It is a method of administering, managing and otherwise operating the enterprise and organisation known currently as "The International Solename Organisation - www.Solename.org" including the techniques used in doing and conducting business as well as social interaction. It is a computer assisted implementation of the systematic means thus described and is a mode or manner of achieving an end result which is an artificially created state of affairs of utility in the field of economic endeavour.
In every society and economy there are standard ways of identifying an individual person, organisation, event or other entity. This leads to duplication, confusion and regular mistakes where two or more share the same common name. An extreme example; God asks for Adam Smith... Would every Adam Smith who'd ever lived show up? We can't imagine what happens after life, but we can introduce new Business Systems to aid commerce and the global aspect of the social situation we all face today — hence the Solename System.
For the first time, each entity (including your pet), can have a Solemaae. This is entirely unique and is FREE, thus making it ubiquitous, so even refugees, children and others without funds can participate on an equal basis. Like a Sow/name, one can choose a more fun, descriptive or appropriate name than their common name.
The purpose of a Solename is to be identifiable to others and to be identifiable as not others. It is the only unique and soon ubiquitous identifier, which is free for life, has almost limitless day-to-day applications, is personally chosen, and controlled by the individual or their assigns.
By prefixing a name with Dr, Sir, Ms etc, we know what sort of person the name relates to. The Solename System uses a prefix to identify a name as a Solename and thus the system can work verbally, electronically and in the written form. The patent calls for a prefix, suffix or any attachment to be used for the purpose.
Using a computer, pda, phone or other input device, an entity may at their discretion add their own choice of contact details, news, views, multimedia files etc to the online database of Solenames. Currently, this is done through a directory and blog facility. Email, lockable entries and many security features ensure the user-friendly attraction of the system.
As we interact more online in a global market and as a global family, it is often forgotten that a contact may be abroad. Only a Solename is a unique name, guaranteed unique and with a Solename you can keep your location private whilst still identifying or distinguishing yourself. A Solename may also be used as an Alias. It is suggested that personal details may be accessible in separate entries, but hidden behind various passwords and/or security questions.
The Solename booklet follows as to complete the specification and the claims will follow within 12 months. The contact details are on the application form provided and please send an Invitation to pay.
sii Yoursolename;
The only constant in life is change; even your Solename can change but for the system to serve you best you should choose one and stick to it. At school you can pass on your Solename to friends and know that wherever life's great journey takes you, or them, you'll always be able to keep in touch. In today's world, people change jobs frequently, often travelling or working abroad whenever the opportunity arises. Then everything changes, including your home and mobile numbers, work and home email addresses and your current circle of friends... put your Solename on business cards, letters and emails so people will always have a way to get back to you in years to come. You choose your Solename, decide whether to link it to contact information, which details, when to update it and who gets to see what.
You can say more about who and what you are in your Solename Blog. All your details will keep changing and to make it harder for friends to find you, many other people will share the same common name as you - a global population of over six billion makes this inevitable.
Accordingly, the International What's your Soiename?
Solename System, with all its features [ and services is here to help.
"We ike beinα ab e to contact our customers so we alwavs ask'
Solenames;
Uniquely your name, unlike a common name and you can choose a more fun or interesting name. It's your registered English name if you are from a culture which does not use the English (Roman) alphabet. More importantly, it's your internationally recognised, everyday global reference to prevent confusion or mistakes over identity. Ideal for making a reservation with a restaurant, theatre or airline, or for stating after your common name for extra security when dealing with banks, hospitals or public offices.
Your Solename usually backs up your common name, but it can also be used as an alias for privacy. Your choice of what goes in the directory, in your blog entries behind Solename Locks and the passwords or questions asked, will make all the difference and you are always the one in control. You could use your Solename as your email server (from) name - mail programs list "from" & "subject" and you may be just one of many people with your common name who is contacting that person or company. The advantages and uses for your Solename are endless.

Solename Blogs;
ISP's give you free homepages or web sites but your Solename Blog is different. It's a simple, fast loading, list of entries filled with information, opinion, news, photographs or whatever, with links to your other pages if necessary. Unlike web pages, Solename Blogs are designed with mobile devices and phone screens in mind and there's no need for special software or "design". People worldwide will check your Solename blog to see more than your current contact details, to see what you're doing, if you have posted information for them or maybe just to find out who you are. Your blog is yours for life regardless of how often you change ISP's and unlike most web pages, Solename Blog pages are printer-friendly by default. It's your notice board; we've just got engaged, had a baby etc, or for companies, announcements for staff, customers or shareholders.
If you missed out on a dot com, it's another chance to have a favourable address. It's easier to advertise and remember sn Xxxxxx instead of www.xxxxxx.co/com/net/org.au/uk/hl/de... (hundreds of possible endings). You only need to pass on "sn Yoursolename", but to bookmark, add to favourites or save as your homepage, the direct link to your blog is; www.yoursolename.solename.org and we have free E-mail forwarding too, so any mail sent to yoursolename@solename.org will go straight to your current E-mail address. Your Solename is more than a web address - it's your mobile address™ because you can edit it on the move without your ISP and without your web design program.
An effective way to advertise items; "Toyota Corolla for quick sale; sn Smithy." A short line in the small adds, on the back of the car or as the signature on your E-mails, allows you to simply post a link to this item with full details in your blog. Want to promote an event? sn Jazz_Concert or sn Party02/01/06. Register the sn, advertise it and create a blog containing contact and event details. You'll need to decide if the event is an individual thing or a business, but soon we'll have a third registration category dedicated to events.
Solename.org is the top-level contact point with your contact info, news and more, which is then promoted globally and focussed through the universally accepted site. The system itself is much wider ranging than the Internet though, having many other applications in everyday life. It's the only free, lifelong, worldwide property marking system. Putting your Solename on personal items allows people to trace them back to you via the directory or your blog, from anywhere on Earth for the rest of your life. For those in the off-line community, it's a great facility as you only need to access a computer once a year to maintain your Solename - and listings, updates & searches are always free.

The Solename Directory;
This truly is the global directory and has the ability to list everyone and every business in the World. No need for a phone number or website to be listed. Even developing countries promote free public Internet access through educational centres and libraries and absolutely everybody, every business, worldwide, is encouraged to register their Solename, pass it on and keep comiected, we call this the Human web. We can list each member of a company, organisation, group or household, so now other people can find you easily and understand what makes you special.
List your numbers and addresses, or as much as you choose - full details in your blog behind Solename Locks. There's a description field to add anything you like - don't call after 9pm, beware of the dog, 1A price sale now on, or perhaps; Car for sale - full details in box, or perhaps your gaming alias or chat room name. People with the same interests as you can contact you if you choose or state whether you want to receive unsolicited contact. There's also a vital field; 'in case of emergency please contact...
The first place to look someone up and therefore the best place to be listed! When searching for people you've lost touch with who could be literally anywhere on Earth, Solename.org makes it simple and we're continually building more language versions of the site. Only with a Solename can you type in one name and get one answer and Solenames are the only unique lifelong link to you. People who use a common name search, will be able to scroll and find you but if you have a popular name, like Kim, it could take a while - about 25% of people in Korea are called Kim! There are huge advantages in having a Solename... (1) You can use it in everyday life as your unique global reference without being listed in the Solename Directory and without using a Solename Blog. (2) You can discreetly give out your Solename to advertise the contents of your Solename Blog without being listed in the Solename Directory, or (3) you can be found easily in the Solename Directory without putting anything in a Solename Blog. Each individual component is an asset on its own, but working together as (4) the Solename System, they become a wonderful universal business and social tool, and remember, all these standard services are safe, secure and free.
Internet cafe's, clubs, schools etc are welcome to display our posters, printed from the site. Solenames are allocated on a first come first served basis... so help your friends to get their first choice. If you have a web site you may paste our links onto it subject to the terms you'll find with them on our site. There's also the Solename plug-in. Every web site, telephone, mobile or browser company, OS manufacturer, software developer etc is welcome and encouraged to add this plug-in feature to your web site or products. Solename.org is proud to be uniquely independent and to be able to offer its services for free to every service provider, everywhere, without favour or preference.
Our aim;
Being the highest-level contact point for people & business, we're linking all your communication methods to a new, more precise and more easily controlled personal "tag". We recommend people get a web page as well as a Solename Blog, are listed in local phone & business directories if appropriate as well as the Solename Directory and encourage the standard use of domain names. The Solename System joins together and enhances other forms of contact and broadcast, it is not intended to replace them.
Solename.org is a live service accessible via pda's, computers and soon via phones. Printed directories will always be invaluable and easier to use than turning on a computer or cheaper than making a connection with a mobile device and specialist directories and Internet search engines will always have their niche. We have no desire to become limited or specialist, nor do we intend to become a dominating dot-com portal for everything and nothing. We don't spider web sites and collect URL's because we're not a conventional web directory or a general Internet search engine. Our focus is entirely on people not pages.
We offer; one system of lifelong contact (pen names or handles) for everyone, regardless of language or location, the only global directory for all mankind, free hot links, free personal advertising space, free listings and directory enquiries with no commitment or compromise for users - Worldwide. Our aim is simple and focussed; to provide the ultimate global directory for planet Earth - the hub of the human web, safe, secure & free.
Using your Solename;
A Solename is unique to that sole individual or business and like a soul name, it describes how they themselves wish to be known, labelled or addressed; e.g, sn JohnSmith, sn J.D.Smith, sn CaptainjSmith, sn J.Smith/Singer, sn Smithy, sn Cyberman, sn The.Love.Machine etc. You can register your common name, nickname, title, stage name, business name, CB handle or any alias as a Solename.
A Solename can be up to 40 characters and is not case sensitive, but being a proper noun, begins with a capital letter. You may register a number as a Solename purely to mark on property or for privacy, Solenumbers are still referred to as Solenames. If you want a Solename for your pet you can, all we ask is that you preface it with "Pet." eg sn PetWolfie. You can sponsor Solename by bidding to use a generic name or word but remember, you may only register one or two Solenames.
Use your Solename; a) anytime you deal with others outside your local community, overseas travel or trade or using the Internet, b) anytime it is important that you are not confused with anyone else of the same common name, when dealing with banks, hospitals, public offices etc - mistakes do happen where two or more people share the same common name! c) marking property, pets or children so they can be returned to you anytime, anywhere in the world, d) giving people the link to all your future contact details & news today. Simply mention your Solename along with your common name whenever you feel it appropriate to do so. E.g. "John Smith, sn Smithy" or "John Smith (sn CaptJ.Smith)". There are many ways of precisely identifying a person; fingerprints, national ED cards, voiceprint, DNA, eye pattern etc, but the Solename System is one of individual choice, respects privacy, is non governmental and entirely voluntary. No governments have special access to the database and it's not linked to any other database. The only personal details recorded by us are the Solename and password you choose and the security Q&A. With these three details, you can print a certificate from our site - useful if you are a company.
If someone writes "sn" before a name they give you, or states that it is their Solename you can assume it is. Most countries already have "passing off laws relating to identity fraud. Please note that like every other internet site, we do receive your computer's "IP address" and can block it from accessing our system if we need to. Be sure to choose a Solename which you will be proud to tell people and have printed on business cards and personal stationery.
Is there an ulterior motive behind giving everyone on Earth an extra name and a unique identity? No. Those banner ads and sponsorship allow us to maintain and promote the system. We do not record which site a user has just come from or which they go to next or leave cookies on your computer. We do not accept referral fees, take commissions or have any hidden sidelines. Most importantly, we don't profile you. We simply supply the demand for a premium quality, free global communications system. As the World communicates more through business, travel, and electronic means, a solely unique name as a reference is ever more important. A lifelong, comprehensive, up to date link to yourself, the details of which you control, is appealing to most people and helps prevent unpopular compulsory ID systems.
We don't subscribe to or sell mailing lists or inspect the contents of your listing or Blog unless we receive a complaint. We don't record who is looking up whom, from where and at what time. The Solename System protects privacy as well as your ability to be contacted. We're glad to allow everyone, especially people in the poorest countries, an equal chance to benefit from the huge advantages of human networking. We help displaced persons and refugees by keeping members of families and communities in touch after they're provided with safe havens in other countries. If you are in a position to offer assistance with this or indeed to help any illiterate or poorly educated person, please note that we value your support. You only have to find access to the Internet once a year to maintain your contact information and a trusted relative, friend or aid agency can do this for you if necessary.
We won't run out of names but to make things easier, a Solename is only actually registered for 1 year. Each time an entry is made or updated it's extended for 1 more year. Roughly 18 months after a person's death, their Solename becomes available again. Make a note of the security Q & A - this backup prevents somebody watching you at a public computer terminal, discovering your password and taking control of your details.
Businesses should expedite their Solename sign-up to stop unscrupulous people registering their name and asking for money, as with so many web domains. Please read our policy on this issue in Terms & Conditions. We suggest young children only fill one field in the directory - the "in case of emergency" one - with a parents Solename. Everyone has the right to a Solename but children also have the right to innocence, and to not risk having their vulnerability compromised by others.
We believe we have the highest possible privacy and integrity standards! We use the latest in virus protection and anti-spamming software. Anybody found attempting to abuse the system is denied access. We are committed to do all in our power to protect the valuable information you leave with us for others to see. We even give you a secure banking style login. If you have any concerns or issues with using the Solename System please contact us. The System is our gift to you and we will endeavour to keep it safe, secure, and free. Solename.org is an independent, non-governmental organisation, serving the global community. Our philosophy is straightforward; through greater contact and communication there is compassion, understanding and an advance in civilisation.
Wh^t'S yOUt SolensmO? - everyone else's link to you - pass it on and keep connected!
Ωie Solename System is dedicated to the memory of Jill Hall. Tills booklet, the site and the Solename System are © Solename.org 2000 - 2006.
