Abstract

A portion of a trawl door (1) formed from solid synthetic material (3) or (4) encloses a portion of a frame (25). The frame enclosed within the synthetic material (3) or (4) includes support members (20) with upper surface (22) and lower surface (23) to which connecting members (61, 62, 64, 65) pierced by holes (98) are secured after liquid synthetic material (3) or (4) solidifies. One disclosed aspect of a process for molding a portion of a trawl door (1) employs a cavity (76) which is larger than the final desired size of the molded piece (3) or (4). Another disclosed aspect of a process for molding a trawl door (1) positions support members (20) in the mold cavity (76) so portions thereof are accessible despite the presence of solidified synthetic material (3) or (4). Accessible portions of the support members (20) receive connecting members (61, 62, 64, 65) having a shape determined by particular positions of accessible portions of the support members (20).
