Abstract

The present invention refers to an apparatus for acquiring, processing and displaying images, as well as the method of operation thereof . The image acquisition, processing and display apparatus according to the invention comprises an acquisition system (1) for the acquisition of images (10, 25), which defines an optical axis (2) of acquisition of a principal image (10) ; a processing unit (5) for processing said images (10, 25) to generate a processed image (17); a display system (6) for visually reproducing said processed image (17) on an area (A) of an image plane (18) . The apparatus is characterized in that the acquisition system (1) is disposed so that said area (A) is visible in its entirety, and in that said optical axis (2) intersects said image plane (18) at a point contained within said area (A) . Also claimed is a method of operation of the image acquisition, processing and display apparatus according to the invention.
