Abstract
The invention relates to a lock of a magazine (1) for a firearm, consisting of a locking edge (2) in the magazine (1) and a magazine release (3), which rests on the locking edge and which is retained in the locking position by spring force (4). At the end of the magazine release (3) there is provided a backup cam (5), preventing the magazine release from opening before the magazine (1) is pushed inwards (A) so that the backup cam (5) can pass the locking edge (2) as the magazine release (3) is opened (B) for detaching the magazine.
Description
Magazine lock for a firearm
This invention relates to a magazine lock for a firearm, the magazine lock consisting of a locking edge in the magazine and a magazine release leaning on the locking edge so that the bolt is retained in the locking position by spring force.
It has been found out that in some circumstances an external object, such as a support board in a hunting tower, a twig or a branch on the ground can be caught in the magazine release with the consequence that the magazine comes out of the firearm and falls to the ground.
The purpose of the invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned drawback. It is characteristic of a lock of the invention that a backup cam is provided at the end of the magazine release, preventing the magazine release from opening before the magazine is pushed inwards so that the backup cam can pass the locking edge as the magazine release is opened for detaching the magazine. The backup cam with a height of approximately 0.2 - 0.4 mm at the end of the magazine release now prevents the magazine release from opening even though some external force acts on the magazine release. Two power components are now needed for detaching, the magazine before the magazine comes out of the firearm. The magazine is lifted or pushed inwards with one hand, while the magazine release is turned into to the open position with the other hand, after which the magazine can freely fall downwards.
The invention will next be explained by means of an example, referring to the enclosed drawings, in which
Figure 1 is a sectional view of the locking point of the firearm;
Figure 2 illustrates an enlarged view of the point circled in Figure 1; and
Figure 3 illustrates the detachment of the magazine.
The lock consists of a locking edge 1 in the magazine and of a magazine release 3, which rests against the locking edge 2 and which is retained in the locking position by spring force. At the end of magazine release 3 there is provided a backup cam 5, which prevents the magazine release from opening before the magazine 1 is pushed inwards A so that the backup cam 5 can pass the locking edge 2 as the magazine release is opened for detaching the magazine 1. The
magazine is first pressed in the direction of the arrow A with one hand, and then the magazine release is pressed in the direction of the arrow B, after which the magazine 1 comes out in the direction C.
Claims
1. A lock of a magazine (1) for a firearm, consisting of a locking edge (2) in the magazine (1) and a magazine release (3), which rests on the locking edge and which is retained in the locking position by spring force (4), characterised in that a backup cam (5) is provided at the end of the magazine release (3), preventing the magazine release from opening before the magazine (1) is pushed inwards (A) so that the backup cam (5) can pass the locking edge (2) as the magazine release (3) is opened (B) for detaching the magazine.
2. Magazine lock according to claim 1, characterised in that the height of the backup cam (5) is approximately 0.2 - 0.4 mm.
