Abstract

A method for transmitting signals to and from at least one signal processing unit, comprising in a direction towards the signal processing unit: - a first step, in which an incoming baseband Ethernet signal is combined with an incoming CATV signal into a combined signal, using a filter, wherein the combined signal comprises the baseband Ethernet signal and the CATV signal; - a second step, in which the combined signal is transmitted to at least one building in which a CATV cable is installed; - a third step, in which the transmitted, combined signal is split into a baseband Ethernet signal and a CATV signal, using a filter similar to that used for combining the signals; - a fourth step, in which the baseband Ethernet signal is transmitted to the signal processing unit and the CATV signal is transmitted to a CATV installation in the building; and - in a direction away from the signal processing unit: - transmitting an outgoing baseband Ethernet signal from the signal processing unit along the same paths as the combined signal, albeit in opposite direction; a special feature being the fact that the incoming baseband Ethernet signal and the outgoing baseband Ethernet signal are transmitted simultaneously.
