Description
Device for binders
The present invention relates to a device in stands for binders, panels or other information agents intended for support and which is arranged angleable as well as lockable in the desired adjusted angle position.
In stands of the above-mentioned type, it is previously known to be able to angle the proper binder holder vertically between certain angles and that the binder then is retained in the desired adjusted angle position. In that connection, for the angling and retention, a ball-and-socket joint is utilized, which also allows the possibility of rotating the holder optionally into desired positions. However, a ball-and- socket joint looses the locking function thereof after a certain time of use, after which play arises and the heavy binder will permanently adjust itself into the lower angle position thereof, i.e., rest sloping backward against the substratum, e.g., a table . A device previously known by US 5,751,548 A is intended to form a docking station for portable computers and which is arranged to be adjustable into a desired position, vertically (D), rotated (A), angled (B), as well as turned (C). In that connection, a separate pivot joint for the respective motional adjustment as well as separate catches for blocking in the desired and adjusted position, respectively, are utilized. Thus, there will be many levers and controls on said station, which makes the device dearer and unnecessary complicated.
Therefore, the main object of the present invention is, among other things, primarily to solve said prob¬ lems and provide a stable device which works efficiently and safely, and which consists of few parts that can work together,
and that it is possible to utilize joint parts to solve a plurality of functions.
Said object is attained by means of a device according to the present invention, which substantially is characterized in that a holder for said binders, etc., is mounted turnable around a substantially horizontal bearing shaft coupled to a holder base, in order to be able to angle the proper binder holder vertically between certain angles, that a manually actuatable angular-adjustment mechanism is cou- pled between the holder and the holder base, which mechanism comprises a turnably mounted actuator arm, which in the lock position is receivable in one of the reception openings distributed along a line, so that the binder then is retained in the desired adjusted angle position, the bearing shaft and the actuator arm being formed by a common part.
The invention is described below in the form of a preferred embodiment example, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, in which
Fig. 1 shows in perspective a stand according to the invention in an angled-up position,
Fig. 2 shows a side view of the frame of the stand,
Fig. 3 shows the stand including a binder schematically shown in the holder of the stand, Fig. 4 shows in enlargement the angular-adjustment mechanism of the stand,
Fig. 5 shows a stand upon manual actuation for adjustment, and
Figs. 6-8 show the stand having a frame for wall mounting, table support, and support by a floor foot, respectively.
A device 1 made according to the present invention, which is suited to be used in a stand 2 for binders 3,
panels or other information agents intended for support and which is arranged angleable at a certain desired angle as well as lockable in the desired adjusted angle position I, II, III- VII, comprises an especially formed bearing and angular-adjust- ment mechanism 4.
More precisely, a holder 5 for said binders, etc., 3 is mounted turnable around a substantially horizontal bearing shaft 7 coupled to a holder base 6 and that a manually actuatable angular-adjustment mechanism 4 is coupled between the holder 5 and the holder base 6, which mechanism comprises a turnably mounted spring-force actuated actuator arm 8, which in the lock position I-VI is receivable to rest in one of the reception openings 10-15 distributed along a line 9.
Said reception openings 10-15 are formed by a plurality of teeth 18-22 along one side 16A of a slot-shaped curved recess 16 extending in the upward direction 17, which recess is arranged in the holder base 6, and which is provided with said plurality of teeth 18-22 preferably evenly distributed along said recess 16, on the side 23 thereof turned in the direction from the bearing shaft 7.
The holder 5, which is formed by a part formed from a sheet-metal plate or the like material, comprises two end portions 24, 25, situated at a mutual distance A from each other, with said turning bearing shaft 7 and the actuator arm 8 of the angular-adjustment mechanism 4, respectively, arranged to co-operate with said holder 5 and with the holder base 6 simultaneously. In that connection, the holder 5 is suitably formed by a bent sheet-metal plate having a U-shaped cross section and reception openings 26 for said bearing shaft 7 as well as also having mating reception openings 27 for said bearing shaft 7 arranged in two upwardly directed 28 side end portions 29, 30 of the holder base 6, which are situated at a mutual distance B from each other.
The turnably mounted actuator arm 8 is movably received in slot-shaped closed openings 10-15 made in the two end portions 29, 30 of the holderbase 6.
According to the invention, the bearing shaft 7 and the actuator arm 8 are formed by a common part 31 of spring steel, more precisely a U-shapedly bent part of wire having a round cross-section shape.
At the free end 8A of the actuator arm, a manually actuatable gripping part 32 is received, which the user of the stand 2 actuates by a finger 50 in order to bring the actuator arm 8 in the direction 33 toward a disengaged position F and that the resilient actuator arm 8 by spring action springs back into an intended lock position of the actuator arm 8 and in which the same is received in a mating opening 10-15. The free end 7A of the bearing shaft carries a protecting end part 40 in order to prevent from getting hurt on the sharp free end 7A of said bearing shaft.
The connecting part 34 of said U-shaped common part 31 between the bearing shaft 7 and the actuator arm 8 is situated outside one pair of the side end portions 24, 30 of the holder 5 and holder base 6. The actuator arm 8 is, in that connection, received by slot-shaped elongate openings 35, 36 in the side end portions 24, 25 of the holder.
In the drawings, a holder 5 is shown in Figs. 1-5 the holder base 6 of which is fixedly or rotatably mounted around a substantially vertical bearing shaft of a frame 37, but it may also be mounted supportable on a support or on a foot formed in another suitable way, e.g., on a floor foot or as a foot provided with articulatable arms and attachable to a suitable place.
Fig. 6 shows a holder that is attachable by screws on the wall 40, while Fig. 7 shows a holder loosenably
supportable on a table 45 or, such as is shown in Fig. 8, turn- ably supportable on the top of a post 55.
The function and the nature of said device should have been understood by the embodiment example described above and shown in the drawings, and the invention is naturally not limited to the embodiments described above and shown in the accompanying drawings. Modifications are feasible, particularly as for the nature of the different parts, or by using an equivalent technique, without departing from the protection area of the invention, such as it is defined in the claims.
