  • the warming device may further comprise means for facilitating user modification of the heat product by the resistor, for example by including a variable resistor in series with the resistor.
  • the body portion may include a recess configured so as to receive a stethoscope head.
  • the body portion may also include at least one notch configured so as to receive a tube of a stethoscope when the stethoscope head is disposed in the recess during use.

  • a warming device 10 for use in warming a head 11 of a stethoscope prior to disposing the stethoscope head in contact with a patient's skin.
  • the warming device 10 includes a body portion 12 , in this example of generally disc like configuration, heating means 14 incorporated into the body portion 12 and a connector 16 in electrical communication with the heating means 14 and connectable to a computing device such as a personal computer.
  • the warming device 10 is arranged such that when the connector 16 is connected to a computing device, electrical power is derived from the computing device and supplied to the heating means 14 which generates heat when an electrical current is passed therethrough.
  • the connector 16 is a USB connector and, as such, the connector 16 derives an electrical voltage of the order of 5 volts from the computing device.
  • the connector 18 may be a firewire connector.
  • the body portion 12 includes a recess 18 of suitable shape to snugly receive a stethoscope head 11, with notches 20 being provided so as to accommodate a tube (not shown) of the stethoscope and thereby allow a substantial portion of a bell part of the stethoscope head 11 to contact the body portion 12.
  • the body portion may be formed of any suitable heat conductive material, such as heat conductive plastics material.
  • the heating means 14 is a resistor of a type arranged to emit sufficient heat when a voltage of the order of 5 volts is connected across the resistor 14 to heat the stethoscope head to a temperature not exceeding a temperature which is comfortable to a patient when the stethoscope head is disposed in contact with the patient's skin.
  • a resistor of the order of 13.2 ohms may be provided.
  • the resistor is 10 ohms.
  • the device 10 may further comprise means for modifying the temperature produced by the heating resistor 14 by a user.
  • the heating resistor 14 may be disposed in series with a variable resistor 40 which is controlled by a user so as to allow the user to modify the heat produced by the heating resistor 14.
  • the variable resistor 40 may have an associated dial (not shown) which extends outwardly of the body portion 12.
  • the variable resistor may be adjustable within the range 0 - 13 ohms.
  • an outwardly facing surface of the body portion 12 may include a region 22, which may be recessed, for receiving indicia such as advertising material.
  • a light device in this example in the form of an LED 24, may be disposed in the body portion at a suitable location to effect illumination of the indicia.
  • a current limiting resistor 26 is disposed in series with the LED 24.
  • the current limiting resistor 26 may be a 220 ohms resistor.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de réchauffement (10) qui comprend une partie corps (12), des moyens de chauffage (14) disposés pour chauffer la partie corps (12) pendant l'utilisation, et un connecteur (16) configuré de façon à pouvoir être connecté à un dispositif informatique de manière à dériver une puissance pour les moyens de chauffage à partir du dispositif informatique. Le dispositif de réchauffement (10) est disposé de telle sorte que quand une tête de stéthoscope (11) est mise en contact avec la portion corps (12) pendant l'utilisation, la tête de stéthoscope est réchauffée à une température ne dépassant pas une température qui est confortable pour un patient quand la tête de stéthoscope (11) est mise en contact avec la peau du patient.
