The invention concerns an energy absorption device for motor vehicle bumper beam, comprising a shell (11) wherein is housed a metal foam (12) having energy absorbing properties, wherein the shell (11) and the foam (12) are molded metal components. The invention also concerns a method for making such a device. The invention is applicable to motor vehicles.
