Description

SAFETY PADLOCK Application field
This safety padlock gives, compared to the classical padlocks on sale, a higher versatility and an easier way of use; furthermore, its design makes it fit for a lot of applications especially for motorbikes. State of the art
Padlocks are widely used as security systems Io lock doors, gates, mechanical antitheft, fastenings, chains and so on. These padlocks show different structures to be able to comply with the necessary functional and security requirements; generally they are made by an armoured block characterised by a slot where a pin can be blocked by a lock.
At the moment no safety-padlock on sale has got both a high versatility of use and the same safety. A further disadvantage of padlock for motorbikes is due to their difficult application in order to lock them round the wheels with consequent staining of hands and clothes. Purpose of the proposed patent is to avoid these advantages. Besides most of the safety-padlocks on sale are too much heavy and are too encumbering, for this reason they are not too useful for motorbikes especially road motorbikes because there isn't too much room for safety-padlocks . Purpose of the invention and its advantages
The solution consists of a padlock characterized by a structure and a particular shape that make it actually unassailable, easy to use and easy to be transported on road motorbikes. Description
The safety-padlock is made by two shells (one inferior and the other one superior) fitting together where one enters the other one. They could be made in steel.
The upper shell is such that it can house the lower shell. It has got a hole to house the cylinder of the lock and a stiffening where a screw locking the cylinder of the lock is inserted. Besides, when the antitheft is closed, there is a pin which is inserted in the part to be locked. The lower shell has got a block acting as the male part which fits together the upper shell acting as the female part. When the lateral surfaces of the inferior block, acting the male part, are closed fit together the internal surfaces of the superior part. The two shells are blocked when we close them because there is a groove in the lower block. This part has got also two grooves where the pin of the block is inserted. In conclusion, the two shells, once assembled, can not be disassembled because there are two cylinders (housed in proper grooves in the lower part) which are pushed by springs into the proper room in the upper part . The describer safety-padlock can be better understood with reference to the accompanying drawings which are only illustrative, not binding. Description of the drawings

Table 6 fig. 14) shows the cylinder lock in rear axonometric view. fig. 15) shows the cylinder lock in frontal axonometric view. Detailed description of the invention
Referencing to the drawings, the padlock consists in two parts (1 -2) ; the upper part (1) shows a hole 3 where the cylinder lock 4 is inserted, this cylinder lock is blocked in the upper part 1 by the screw 5 which is inserted in the hole 6 in the stiffening 7.
This screw 5 is inserted in the lateral surface of the cylinder lock 4.
The screw 5 blocks the lock 4 to the upper part 1.
The padlock has got a central spring 8 contained in an hollow cylinder 9 utilized to let the spring work and consequently the padlock. To assembly the padlock we have to insert the spring 8 in the hollow cylinder 9 and place it in the hole 24. then we have to insert the springs 11-12 in the holes 13-14 which are in the block of the lower part 2. After inserting the springs 11-12 in the holes 13-14, cylinders 16-17 are inserted and then pushed in the holes 13- 14 as for as they enter completely in the block 15 and make it aligned with the surface 10-22 of the block 15. In this conditions we let the block enter the proper slot, acting as the female part in the fitting together. When the cylinders 16-17 meet the slots 19-20 they are pushed by the springs 11-12. in this way the padlock is assembled and the two parts, the lower 2 and the upper 1 one, can' not be disassembled anymore. When the padlock is open the central spring 8 keeps the two parts, the lower and the upper one 1-2, spaced out. In this type of padlock the lock cylinder consists of a pin 21 which has got a half-moon shape, as shown in the picture 14. when we want to open the padlock, the pin rotates with the key, lining up its face 23 parallely to the faces 26 of the block 15, and this lets the antitheft open automatically since the spring 8 pushes the two components, spacing out them. Thanks to this kind of lock, the padlock can be closed without a key. This is because the lock has got an internal spring that always leads the pin 21 to the closing position, further more , the pin can rotate in to the opening position without using the key. Therefore, when the two shells are brought near, the pin is in the closing position, or his face 23 is perpendicular to the surface 10 of the padlock 15. when the two shells are near, the pin touches the surface 29 of the padlock 15 and begins a rotation to move to the opening position, till it meets a hole 27. That hole let the pin moves to the closing position. In this state, the padlock is closed in at first position. This behaviour permits a semi-automatic working of the padlock. In fact, it could be closed without the use of any key, simply bringing near the two shells 1-2. When the padlock is closed the pin 30 goes in the hole 31. The pin, interposed between the two shells, guarantees the maximum safety against theft. We can use the padlock to close the gear of the chain (as shown by the picture 7, table III) , this cause the two parts of the padlock to mate perfectly, thus avoiding any use of lock picking devices. If we want to use the padlock on the disk brake, we have got to bring near the two shells 1-2 and, in the same way, the pin of the lock 4 moves to the hole 28 that is on the lower part 2 of the padlock 15.
Thanks to this double closing position, the padlock can be used also on the disk brake, thus avoiding any use of lock picking devices (as shown by the picture 5, table III) .
It is possible to notice that when the lock is closed the upper shell contains the lower shell and this thing gives to the padlock the ability to have two closing positions. Another characteristic regards his working of closing and opening: when the antitheft is open, the lock reminds on axes with his position of closing thanks to the presence of the lateral cylinders 16-17 and the guide spring 9, in fact the lateral cylinders 16-17, pushed into their respective slots 19-20, bind the rotation motion of the upper shell respect to the lower part 1-2, around the hole axis 24. While the guide spring, inserted into the hole and pushed by the spring 8, bind the rotation motion of the upper shell 13-14, respect to the lower one 2 around the holes axis. In this bind situation the only possible reciprocal motion, between the upper 1 shell and the lower one 2 is a translation movement along the hole direction. Afterwards, the perfect functioning of the padlock is guaranteed by the meshing between the guide spring 9 and the lateral cylinders 16-17. Moreover, it is possible to notice that in the maximum opening position, the padlock is not anymore inserted in the guide 18, on the contrary, his faces 10-22 slide on the inside surface 32-33 of the shell 1: the perfect functioning of the padlock is guaranteed by the meshing between the guide spring 9 and the lateral cylinders 16-17 in their proper houses. Finally, it is possible to observe that to guarantee a double closing position of the lock, the lateral surface 34 of the lower part 2 perfectly fits together the lateral inside surface 25 of the upper part 1. so, this surfaces act as male and female fitting together.
The padlock, thanks to his ellipsoid form, when is close doesn't have any point good to theft it. Tanks to the opening and locking system with which it is equipped and that clearly distinguished it, the padlock is of easy application and disconnection. Furthermore it can be easily carried since it requires little space to be stored. The padlock is made empty inside to contain his weight. For his geometric complexity it could be made by different processes, the best one is the lost a wax casting process but are not excluded any other process though drilling machine that can be used to make it. The padlock has been designed, as shown by the accompanying drawings, with the purpose to provide an ergonomic shape; nevertheless it could also realized with any kind of suitable shape. Similarly different mechanisms of clamping and locking can be adopted, depending on the shape assumed by the padlock.
The appened claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention To sum up, the padlock could be made in different shape and structure using the same idea that is the object of the following claims .
