Abstract

The present invention is directed to the methods of (1) determining natural gas paleotemperature, origin, and maturity by measuring 13CDH3 methane double isotopologues, and (2) optical methods to determine both 13CDH3 and 13C18O16O double isotopologues. In addition, the invention is also disclosed a method to determine carbon and hydrogen isotopes in methane, ethane and propane by using a gas chromatography followed by a combustion and optical methods.
