Abstract

The invention relates to a gas processing method, in particular the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, for catalytically oxidising a carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons contained therein into an oxygen-rich medium, wherein said method consists in using a compound based on an oxidation catalyst metal such as a platinum and a silica-containing zirconia in the form of a catalyst. The inventive method is particularly suitable for processing exhaust gases of a diesel engine or a petrol lean mixture operating engine.
