Abstract

The present invention relates to an electronic dictionary link apparatus and method using by mobile phone camera which receives an image data input, and converts to character code automatically through a character recognition, then the converted character recognition links with built-in electronic dictionary, then searches inputted word in any language to choose, and then displays a result on the screen of the mobile camera, and then outputs a corresponding words by voice through speaker of the mobile phone.

The present invention relates to an electronic dictionary link apparatus and method using by mobile phone camera to manage a word search with built- in any kind of foreign language dictionary in the mobile phone camera through character recognition.

Technical Problem

A user was inconvenient to use an existing mobile phone for searching dictionary because the user brought it in his/her bag separately, used a special model of the mobile phone with built-up an electronic dictionary in special model of the mobile phone, and was possible to provide dictionary to search for the foreign language only to connect to mobile service which was provided from mobile phone company. For translating words using by the electronic i dictionary link apparatus, there was troublesomeness to input the word directly using by keypad of mobile phone.

Moreover, many Internet users had been dramatically increased with demand of learning through the Internet. Learning content service business using by multi-media such as audio and video grew rapidly by many supplies of mobile phones and high-speed network in which was possible to transfer multimedia as required huge data. Learning foreign languages, which got accomplished through the exclusive terminal or video output apparatus such as TV or VHS, were also increased rapidly due to the fast speed of transmission through the Internet. However, most of users and use type in general was through desktop as basis of wire web, and especially existing learning foreign language through the web has a problem by lack of portable to carry so it was only possible to use and study at home or office, or was possible to use the services only PC in which has to install moving picture learning solution such as GVA.

Meanwhile, as prior art of translating words to embody the web, in the method of searching words through the web as completing word search between client and server over the web, the client included display part to display character and cursor to be able to choose a word, user chose a word using by the cursor, then transmit an request to search the word to the server through the web, and the server as installed translating program to be used to search the word received the request to search, then translating the word and then transmit the translated word to the user through the web, the client displayed the translated word on the display part if the client received the translated word from the server, there was a method to search and translate a word through the web using by installed translator program in the server through the web without installing translator program as through the steps of the above-mentioned. However, there was a problem of limitation because it was only accomplished using by the web.

To overcome the above-mentioned problems, Korean Patent Application No. 10-1997-0055845 improved a convenience to add a dictionary function of English conversation in portable mobile phone. In referenced as Figure 1 of the patent application, 1st step for displaying of the higher rank mode to be able to choose whether or not to start of English conversation if the dictionary function of English conversation was to choose by start key of established English conversation in advance, in which the dictionary function of English conversation was displayed beginning menu after initializing the mobile phone;

2nd step for inputting a word or a sentence as user wanted to search using by character key;

3rd step for receiving converted word or sentence through transmitting network, in which the converted the word or sentence from Korean to English or from English to Korean, the word or sentence was transmitted to memory of applied service center through the transmitting network when Korean/English converting key was inputted;

4th step for displaying the converted the word or sentence on display part;

5th step for displaying of the higher rank mode to be able to choose whether or not to start of English conversation if Korean/English converting key was not inputted, otherwise progressing the 3rd step if Korean/English converting key was inputted, in which said the word and sentence as the user wanted to search was inputted by the user using by character key.

However, the above-mentioned patent application had a problem to happen inconvenience to input a word or sentence as necessary to search using by character key, so this was hard to make satisfaction of users' request, also there were many limitation of use because it were only possible to use restricted languages such as Korean/English dictionary or English/Korean dictionary.

Technical Solution

An object of the present invention to overcome the above-mentioned problems or limitations, is provided apparatus and method to output through speakers for voice data, and display the searching result of character data, in which said character is inputted from an electronic dictionary as needed word to search as to convert automatically to character code through character recognition the image data which gets from the mobile phone camera using by electronic dictionary and built-up camera in a mobile phone.

In addition, another object of the present invention is provided searching method of foreign languages to be able to display to search from inputted character data to word of needed language, as a user choose input and search language in the beginning after input any kind information of foreign languages including Korean-English or English-Korean dictionary in built-up electronic dictionary of the mobile phone. Advantageous Effects

The present invention has some advantageous to get rid of inconvenience to carry an electronic dictionary with the mobile phone in separate using with built-up electronic dictionary, to be able to increase an effectiveness of learning to output the result of translation and pronunciation through display part and speaker, and to provide searching service of words without set up any additional circuit controller in the mobile phone.

In addition, the present invention can improve convenience to use in which makes possible to input of character data as to convert without input sentence or word through keyboard input to apply the method of character recognition using by mobile phone camera, has also an effectiveness to be able to output the result as searching words as wanted language about inputted character data using built-up electronic dictionary in mobile phone an information of any kind languages including English-Korean dictionary and Korean-English dictionary

A method to store image data using by mobile phone camera in the step 4 as follows: make sure that to show needed word to recognize in look ahead of a display part, then arrange an image to take a picture by moving a screen of look ahead, or recognize a character by analyzing image data in a character recognition part if chosen inputting word using by a pointing cursor from the display part.

The present invention is not limited to the above embodiment. As the present invention may be embodied in several forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof, it should also be understood that the above-described examples are mot limited by any of the details of the foregoing description, unless otherwise specified, but rather should be constructed broadly within its spirit and scope as defined in the appended claims, and therefore all changes and modifications that fall within the meets and bounds of the claims, or equivalences of such meets and bounds are therefore intended to be embraced by the appended claims.

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:

In an apparatus to search for translating from inputted word to wanted language to be connected with built-up electronic dictionary in a mobile phone as converting from receiving image data using by the mobile phone camera to character code, an electronic dictionary link apparatus using by mobile phone camera comprises: a high frequency treatment part means for managing the high frequency signal to be received through antenna of the mobile phone or to be sent to the antenna; an A/D (Analogue to Digital) conversion part means for transmitting to a control part to convert analogue signal to digital signal which outputs from the high frequency treatment part; a D/A (Digital to Analogue) conversion part means for transmitting to the high frequency treatment part to convert digital signal to analogue signal which outputs from the control part; a power part means for supplying needed power for using the mobile phone; a key input part means for transferring key data to the control part for dialing and setting up some kind functions of the mobile phone; a memory part means for storing generated key. data from the key input part; a camera means taking a picture of outside object to set up by built-up inside of the mobile phone or put-on/put-out type in the mobile phone; an image treatment part means for treating image data which takes an image from the camera; a character recognition part means for recognizing as converting image data inputted through the image treatment part to character code; a character abstraction part means for extracting character data including a result of translation character and a corresponding character to search converted character code from the character recognition part in the electronic dictionary; a voice abstraction part means for extracting as searching a character code of the character recognition part to coded voice data; a translation memory part means for storing character data and voice data which is extracted from the character abstraction part and the voice abstraction part; and an electronic dictionary control part means for controlling to be able to output the voice data to speaker and to display the character data on a display part, in which a stored character data and voice data from the translation memory part is linked with the mobile phone by controller of the control part.

2. The apparatus as in claims 1 , wherein said character recognition part includes foreign language recognition means for recognizing any kind of foreign languages.

In a method to display by display part and to output by speaker for a searched word result after converting image data to character code as linking a camera of a mobile phone to character recognition mode, the method comprises: a step 1 in which is chose a word searching mode using by an electronic dictionary according to choice menu by keypad which is in key input part of mobile phone; a step 2 in which is designated a searching language for word from the electronic dictionary and an expecting language of inputting word if chosen word searching mode from the step 1 ; a step 3 in which is chose input of word whether input by character data using a keypad of the key input part or input by image data using a camera if a language is designated from the step 1 ; a step 4 in which is stored image data which gets from taking a picture by the camera an image type in control part if a character input using by mobile phone camera is selected from the step 3; a step 5 in which is blocked image data of imaging type as a word unit from the step 4; a step 6 in which is recognized by character code as transmitting the chosen word into a character recognition part if chosen a hot key of the key input part after output a blocked word on a display part by look ahead from the step 5; a step 7 in which is extracted a character data and voice data of translated data from connected the electronic dictionary through a character recognition part and voice recognition part after sending recognized character code to built-up electronic dictionary of the mobile phone in the character recognition part from the step 6; a step 8 in which is displayed extracted character data from the step 7 on a display part of the mobile phone; a step 9 in which is outputted voice data by speaker using by hot key of key input part after displaying character data on the display part from the step 8.

4. The method as in claim 3, wherein said step 4 means for recognizing by character as analyzing image data in character recognition part in case of photographing by moving a screen of look ahead after making sure that to show needed word to recognize in look ahead of a display part.
