Abstract

The invention relates to a container which may be evacuated, for example a packaging system, for holding objects, whereby the container hermetically seals the object(s) off from the surrounding atmosphere. The container consists of a gas-permeable sleeve with at least one opening, at least one gas-tight closure per opening and at least one one-way valve that opens from the inside to the outside. According to the invention, at least one elastic open-pore pump element (7, 14, 19, 28) is actively connected to the at least one one-way valve (6, 20, 26) of the sleeve (1, 10, 22) of the container. For evacuating, the elastic open-pore pump element (7, 14, 19, 28) is pressed together once or repeatedly from the outside. While utilizing the restoring force of a pump element (7, 14, 19, 28) of this type, the air present inside the container is drawn thereby and forced outside intermittently via the one-way valve (6, 20, 26). This is advantageous in that the evacuation ensues without the use of complex external aids as well as without including or damaging the object(s) to be held inside the container.
