Abstract

A base mat with tufted cut pile or loop pile rubber mat or woven cut pile or loop pile mat. The pile of the base mat could be either cut pile or loop pile or a combination of cut and loop pile. The backing could be either using a latex based compound or any petrochemical based compound. Designs or shapes are cut out from the base mat. An additional layer of backing compound (either a latex based compound or any petrochemical based compound) is applied from it. After the application of the additional compound and before this additional compound layer solidifies it is possible to insert into the cut off areas any embellishments, if required. It is possible to get a dramatic three - dimensional effect on the mat. By giving a colour to the additional backing it is possible to give colours to the base of the mat.

Description

Base Mats Field of Invention
This invention generally relates to base mats with backings. The invention particularly relates to base mats of two versions viz. tufted mat and woven mat. The pile of the mat could either be cut pile or loop pile or a combination of cut.pile and loop pile. The mats manufactured according to this invention will have various utilities such as mats, panels, carpets and the like, and may be made from natural or synthetic fibres. The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing base mats with different designs and shapes with various types of embellishments. Prior Art
It is well known in the art that there are two types of mats and they are categorized as brush mats and non-brush mats. As floor coverings, the conventional mats have been found inadequate, as the disadvantage is that it is difficult to add embellishments. Summary of Invention
The invention consists of novel and unique idea of manufacturing mats and carpets. In this invention a base mat can be manufactured with tufted cut pile or loop pile rubber mat or woven cut pile or loop pile mat.
In this invention the pile of the base mat could be either cut pile or loop pile or a combination of cut and loop pile. If the base mat does not have a backing, then it is preferable to give a backing to this base mat. The purpose of giving this backing is to prevent or minimize the fraying of the cut edges. The backing could be either using a latex based compound or any petrochemical based compound. Designs or shapes are cut out from the base mat. An additional layer of backing compound ( either a latex based compound or any petrochemical based compound) is applied to the base mat which already has the particular designs and shapes cut off from it. The colour of this additional backing compound could be according to the specific requirement. After the application of the additional compound and before this additional compound layer solidifies it is possible to insert into the cut off areas any embellishments, if required. These embellishments that are placed into the cut off space (which has the exposed liquid layer of the additional backing compound), gets fixed into the additional backing compound r after this compound is cured and solidified. Some of the examples of embellishments that could be inserted are pebbles, stones, ceramics, wood, carpets, fabrics etc. Once the additional layer is in place then the mat could be finished by cutting into its final shape and size, if required. This, in essence, is the process of making this novel innovation on a mat. Salient features
1. It is possible to get a dramatic three - dimensional effect on the mat.
2. By giving a colour to the additional backing it is possible to give colours to the base of the mat. So it is possible to see the colour through the cutout areas of the mat.
3. When there are cut out areas in the mat the brushing effect of the mat is enhanced.
4. It is a rather cost effective method of making designs on mats.
5. By implanting embellishments into the additional backing novelty is Provided to the mat.

Claims

Claims
1. The base mat with different types of embellishments wherein the pile of the base mat could be either cut pile or loop pile or a combination of cut and loop pile.
2. A method of manufacturing the base mat as claimed in claim 1 wherein the pile of the base mat could be either cut pile or loop pile or a combination of cut and loop pile. If the base mat does not have a backing, then it is preferable to give a backing to this base mat,
3. the backing could be either using a latex based compound or any petrochemical based compound. Designs or shapes are cut out from the base mat. An additional layer of backing compound ( either a latex based compound or any petrochemical based compound) is applied to the base mat which already has the particular designs and shapes cut off from it,
4. after the application of the additional compound and before this additional compound layer solidifies it is possible to insert into the cut off areas any embellishments, if required; these embellishments that are placed into the cut off space ( which has the exposed liquid layer of the additional backing compound) gets fixed into the additional backing compound after this compound is cured and solidified, some of the examples of embellishments that could be inserted are pebbles, stones, ceramics, wood, carpets, fabrics etc, once the additional layer is in place then the mat could be finished by cutting into its final shape and size if required.
