Abstract

The present invention relates to a video decoder (DEC) for decoding frames (FR) of a video signal (VS) after reception in a decoding unit (DEU). The video decoder (DEC) comprises a post-processing decision unit (PPDU) for deciding which kind of processing will be used for each data of said frame in a post¬ processing unit (PPU). The video decoder (DEC) further implements a reliability map calculation unit (RMCU) for calculating, throughout the time, for each data of said frame (FR), a corresponding reliability value (RV) taking into account Intra and Inter prediction mechanisms, independently from a calculation of a resolution. Said reliability value (RV) express the extent to which the corresponding data of said frame are trustful for use in further post-processing. The global reliability map (RM) thus constructed is then used by said processing decision unit (PPDU).
