Abstract

The disclosure details the implementation of an apparatuses, methods, and systems to generate, display and use a voice-enabled toolbar. The disclosure teaches a Voice-Enabled Toolbar System (VETS), which provides a straightforward, unified, and modular interface having both voice-to-text and text-to-voice interaction in connection with interactive textual activities such as searching and instant messaging. In one embodiment, VETS provides search capabilities of the World Wide Web and uses a business information database, a database receiving news feeds, language translation databases, and a desktop search companion component with integrated voice input and output facilities. As such, the VETS provides a mechanism allowing a broader audience to better interface and interact with various computer systems. By including such voice- enabling components, VETS will allow more and underrepresented members of society to make use of facilities such as Accoona Corp.'s search site as well as increasing its presence in other sectors that may also make use of VETS technology. For example, in one embodiment, VETS may be used to enable text instant messaging and language translation by employing both voice-to-text, text language translation, and then text-to- voice communications.
