Background Art
The present invention concerns a party popper with a simple structure and no possibility of malfunctioning. Its lightness and ease to use make it a great party popper that can be used anywhere, including homes.
A party tape popper (also known as a ribbon popper) refers to a type of mini salute that explode with multiple colored tapes and paper powders at various occasions, such as wedding parties and birthday parties, commonly used to celebrate the persons in the center of the occasion and bring the atmosphere to delight.
The recreational industry today use party tape poppers to pop colorful ribbons (tapes) and paper powders contained in those poppers out at various celebrating occasions and parties with congratulatory music. These party poppers frequently used in such occasions are mostly composed of the same type of structures that explode and discharge the contents within by the gas- typed air guns that pressurize air. The barrel of those air guns is around 50mm. Pulling the trigger of the air gun discharges the certain amount of the pressurized air inside with colorful tapes and/or paper powders from the barrel. However, a problem with this type of party poppers is that a separate gas bomb that fills these air guns with air and/or an expensive air-pressurizing bomb should be purchased with the popper as well in order to fill the popper up with gas. It complicates the whole process of using the popper and may lead to accidents.
Thus, a new type of a party tape popper is suggested here that can be used by anyone easily and simply. The existing type of the party tape popper, which discharges colorful tapes and paper powders using the pressurized gas that has been filled in, consists of a firing pin for the gas cartridge in the rear part of the inside of the gas unit with a Q^t toward the front of the gas discharging valve; a spring and an interior plug that blocks the rear gas cartridge; a frontal plug with a screw-type firing pin for the frontal gas cartridge; a gas cartridge inside the gas unit between the interior plug and the frontal plug; and a frontal gas cartridge which guides the knob of the gas cartridge to the front so that the gas can be selectively discharged with the colorful tapes and paper powders.
However, the existing party tape popper has a complicated structure and multiple possibilities of malfunctioning. They are heavy, and cost much in production, which also make their consumer prices high. Thus, most families could not afford using such tape poppers at parties they hold in their homes.
Disclosure of the Invention
The present invention has been developed to overcome such problems aforementioned. The device of the present invention has a relatively simple structure with no possibility of malfunctioning. It is light and easy to use, and can be used at home parties to lighten the atmosphere and boost the spirit. It also does not cost much to produce and purchase.

Best Modes of Carrying Out the Invention
In order to fulfill the aforementioned purposes of the invention, the party tape popper of the present invention, which is designed to discharge the multicolored tapes and paper powders using the pressurized gas inside it, consists of: a gas-generating part onto which a closing plug with a screw-type firing pin attached, inside of which a pressurized gas injection hole is installed, and into whose interior diameter a pressurized gas cartridge is inserted; an activating hole with linked to the pressurized gas injection hole at the lower end and to a pressurized gas discharging hole at the upper end; a handle located on the upper part of the activating hole and activated by the rotary axis at one end; a protruding key slant declining toward the lower part and installed on the activating hole; a key pin that is triggered toward above by a triggering spring installed in the lower part of the device; a key ring with a greater diameter than that of the key pin and installed on the upper part of the key slant; an activating hole plug with an elevating hole that elevates the upper part of the key pin in the center by closing the upper part of the activating hole; a spacer with a diameter greater than that of the key pin, inserted into the key pin in between the key ring and the activating hole plug, forming multiple long penetrating holes that penetrate the pressurized gas discharge hole; and a tape branch pipe closing part with an insertion groove at the end of the pressurized gas discharging hole and a hanging pin whose elasticity is controlled by a spring at the other end of the gas discharging hole.
On the closing part of the said tape branch pipe is a small, paper-based cylinder whose both ends are closed by sponge or paper boards. Inside the cylinder is a tape roll containing a multiple number of multi-colored tapes and paper powder. There is another tape branch pipe, which is inserted into the insertion groove of the pressurized gas discharging hole with an insertion hole into which the hanging pin can be installed.
There is a thin paper screen on the front of the insertion groove of the aforementioned tape branch pipe so that the screen can minimize the loss of the pressurized gas when the popper is activated.
When the key pin of the said handle goes down, the safety pin inserted into the pin hole around the rotary axis of the handle slides down to protrude on the side by a closing ball that is exploded. The protruding safety pin obstructs the lowering of the handle so that safety mode can be set. The safety pin is inserted further into the pin hole in order to set the usage mode that allows the lowering of the key pin of the handle.
There is a long interior groove formed with an uneven surface along the longitude of the aforementioned tape branch pipe. Inside the insertion groove of the pressurized gas discharging hole that corresponds to the long interior groove is an interior protrusion, which induces the insertion groove of the tape branch pipe to be fixed onto the hanging pin.
The party tape popper of the present invention is described in detail in following paragraphs with references to the drawings enclosed on the back pages.
Figure 1 is a side sectional view of the screw-type firing pin in the party tape popper of the present invention before it is activated. Figure 2 is a side sectional view of the screw-type firing pin in the party tape popper of the present invention when it is activated. Figure 3 is an enlarged sectional view of Part A of Figure 2. Figure 4 is a side sectional view of the activation handle of the party tape popper of the present invention after it is activated. Figure 5 is an enlarged sectional view of Part B of Figure 4. Figure 6 is a side sectional view of another example of using the party tape popper of the present invention. Figure 7 is a slanted view of the tape roll filling inside the party tape popper.
The party tape popper (1) of the present invention is an aluminium- based, small explosive that discharges multi-colored tapes and paper powders (145) using the pressurized gas contained within the popper. It consists of a pressurized-gas cartridge (121), made of light metal; a gas generating part (120); a key pin (10) on the handle (110), elevated by the trigger spring (40); an activating hole (100) linked to the gas generating part (120); a tape branch pipe (140) into which the tape roll (144) is inserted and fixed; and a tape branch closing part (130), which induces the pressurized gas supplied by the activating hole (100).
At one end of the gas generating part (120) is a closing plug (122) made of metal, fixed with a screw. At the other end of the gas generating part (120) is a pressurized gas injecting hole (124) linked to the activating hole (100). Inside the generating part (120) is a pressurized gas cartridge (121), a metallic cylinder. When the user moves the screw-type firing pin (123) on the closing plug (122) and inserts it inside, the sharp edge of the firing pin (123) makes a hole at one end of the pressurized gas cartridge (121), releasing the pressurized gas, e.g. CO2, that had been contained inside the cartridge to fill up the inside of the gas generating part (120). This pressurized gas also fills up the part beneath the key ring (20) that is sealed tightly to the key slant (11) of the key pin (10) through the pressurized gas injecting hole (124) when the activating hole shuts down.
The aforementioned activating hole (100) is a space formed between the closing part (140) of the tape branch pipe and the gas generating part (120) in order to allow the activation of the key pin (10). The hole is linked to the gas generating part (120) via the pressurized gas discharging hole (124) in its lower part and linked to the tape branch pipe closing part (140) in its upper part via the pressurized gas discharging hole (101). It is open toward the lower part of the handle (110), and sealed and screwed by the activating hole plug (50) made of metal.
The aforementioned handle (110) is an aluminium bar. Its one end can be rotated, thanks to the rotary axis (111). Onto the uneven surface of the handle is the key pin (10). When the user rotates the rotary axis (111) of the handle (110) downward, the aforementioned uneven surface pushes the key pin (10) downward from the activating hole (100) in order to open the pressurized gas discharging hole (101). When the user releases the handle (110), the trigger spring (40) installed at the lower part of the key pin (10) elevates the key pin (10) upward again with its elasticity to restore the pin back to its original position.
The aforementioned key pin (10) is a metallic pin installed on the activating hole (100). Around its center is a key slant (11) declining. Around the pin's lower part is the trigger spring (40), which triggers upward above the activating hole (100). The key pin (10) is triggered upward by the trigger spring (40), while the key slant (11), attached to the key ring (20), seals the activating hole (100). When the handle (110) pushes the key pin (10) protruding toward outside via the activating hole plug (50) downward, the key slant (11) of the key pin (10) is separated from the key ring (20). The pressurized gas that has been contained in the gas generating part (120) beneath the activating hole (100) is explosively released via the key ring (20), the spacer (30), the long penetrating hole (31), and the pressurized gas generating part (101).
The aforementioned key ring (20) is an elastic rubber ring with a diameter greater than that of the key pin (10). It is inserted on the key slant (11) of the pin (10). It is advisable that a metallic supplementary ring be put on the part in direct contact with the key pin (10) in order to support the key ring (20) and enhance its functions.
The aforementioned activating hole plug (50), made up of metal, seals the activating hole (100), fixed to it by a screw. In the middle of the plug is an elevating hole that elevates to seal the key pin (10).
The aforementioned spacer (30) is a metallic cylinder with a diameter greater than that of the key pin (10). On its side are multiple long penetrating holes (31) linked to the pressurized gas discharging hole (101). The key pin (10) is inserted in between the key ring (20) and the activating hole plug (50) to maintain the openness of the pressurized gas discharging hole (101) between the key ring (20) and the activating hole plug (50) so that the pressurized gas supplied by the gas generating part (120) is delivered to the tape branch pipe (130) via the pressurized gas discharging hole (101). In other words, the key pin (10) prevents the key ring (20) to elevate and block the pressurized gas discharging hole (101).
The closing part (130) of the aforementioned tape branch pipe is a metallic cylinder formed around the edge of the pressurized gas discharging hole (101). An injection groove (131), into which one end of the tape branch pipe (140) is inserted, is formed at one end, and a hanging pin (132), which is installed on the insertion groove (141) at the other end of the tape branch pipe (140), is fixed by the trigger spring. The hanging pin (132) is separated from the insertion groove (141). The lower part of the hanging pin (132) is in a slanted form. Insertion of a tape branch pipe (140) elevates the hanging pin (132) along the outer surface of the branch pipe (140) until the pin is located on the insertion groove (141) of the branch pipe (140). The hanging pin (132) is fixed on the insertion groove (141) of the closing part (130) of the tape branch pipe with a thud due to the elasticity of the spring (132a).
An interior protrusion, or multiple interior protrusions, should be formed along the longitude of the inside of the aforementioned closing part (130). Corresponding to these protrusions are long interior grooves (146) formed along the edge of the tape branch pipe (140). When the tape branch part (140) is combined to the closing part (130), the hanging pin (132) of the closing part (130) is inserted into the insertion groove (141) of the tape branch part, when the user needs to place the tape branch pipe (140) on the closing part (130) of the tape branch pipe, the long interior groove(s) (146) and the interior protrusion(s) (134) must be combined accurately so that the hanging pin (132) is fixed to the insertion groove (141). Only complete fixing the tape branch pipe (140) to the closing part (130) will enable the safety device to release the safety pin (113).
The aforementioned tape branch pipe (140) is a paper-based cylinder. Its both ends are sealed with weak sponge boards (142). As shown in Figure 6, more thin paper screen(s) (143) may be placed inside the insertion groove (141).
In addition, as the safety pin (113), inserted into the pin hole (112) formed around the rotary axis (111) of the handle (110) is projected after being slid by the closing ball (114), which is triggered by a spring (115) when the key pin (10) of the handle (110) lowers, the safety mode can be set by obstructing the downward movement of the rotary axis. The user's mode may be set to enable the downward movement of the key pin (10) of the handle (110) by inserting the safety pin (113) into the pin hole (112).

Claims

Claims
1. A party tape popper characterized by having: a gas-generating part onto which a closing plug with a screw-type firing pin attached, inside of which a pressurized gas injection hole is installed, and into whose interior diameter a pressurized gas cartridge is inserted; an activating hole with linked to the pressurized gas injection hole at the lower end and to a pressurized gas discharging hole at the upper end; a handle located on the upper part of the activating hole and activated by the rotary axis at one end; a protruding key slant declining toward the lower part and installed on the activating hole; a key pin that is triggered toward above by a triggering spring installed in the lower part of the device; a key ring with a greater diameter than that of the key pin and installed on the upper part of the key slant; an activating hole plug with an elevating hole that elevates the upper part of the key pin in the center by closing the upper part of the activating hole; a spacer with a diameter greater than that of the key pin, inserted into the key pin in between the key ring and the activating hole plug, forming multiple long penetrating holes that penetrate the pressurized gas discharge hole; and a tape branch pipe closing part with an insertion groove at the end of the pressurized gas discharging hole and a hanging pin whose elasticity is controlled by a spring at the other end of the gas discharging hole.
2. A party tape popper with all the elements mentioned in Claim [1] in addition to: a small paper-based cylinder on the closing part of the said tape branch pipe whose both ends are closed by sponge or paper boards. Inside the cylinder is a tape roll containing a multiple number of multi-colored tapes and paper powder. There is another tape branch pipe, which is inserted into the insertion groove of the pressurized gas discharging hole with an insertion hole into which the hanging pin can be installed.
3. A party tape popper as in Claim [2], with a thin paper screen on the front of the insertion groove of the aforementioned tape branch pipe so that the screen can minimize the loss of the pressurized gas when the popper is activated.
4. A party tape popper as in Claim [1], which enables the safety pin inserted into the pin hole around the rotary axis of the handle slides down to protrude on the side by a closing ball that is exploded when the key pin of the said handle goes down. The protruding safety pin obstructs the lowering of the handle so that safety mode can be set. The safety pin is inserted further into the pin hole in order to set the usage mode that allows the lowering of the key pin of the handle.
5. A party tape popper as in Claim [2], with a long interior groove formed with an uneven surface along the longitude of the aforementioned tape branch pipe. Inside the insertion groove of the pressurized gas discharging hole that corresponds to the long interior groove is an interior protrusion, which induces the insertion groove of the tape branch pipe to be fixed onto the hanging pin.
