Abstract
Inserter/exctractor of needles for infusion/blood sample through totally implantable access devices (TIAD), blocking in the middle of the 3/4 of the ring the skin of the superior part of the TIAD, permits a safe introduction and extraction of these needles. The distance between the handle of the device and the point of introduction/extraction of the needle avoid any risk of accidental puncture during the extraction of the needle. When the needle is introduced a small opening in the 3/4 of ring permits to leave in place the needle. The handle is made to block the device. The 3/4 of the ring can be plate, convex or concave, for normal, obese and thin patients. The device is for single use only.
Description
DESCRIPTION
INSERTER/EXTRACTOR OF NEEDLES FOR TOTALLY IMPLANTABLE ACCESS DEVICES
All the people working on the health system using the needles for Totally Implantable Access Device (TIAD) can be accidental puncture. These special needles (named Huber's needle) are introducted intro the TIAD through its superior part made in silicone. This special part is hard to puncture due to the hardness of the silicone, that have to take in place the needle when this have been inserted. So the procedure of introduction of the needle is particularly dangerous with a high risk of accidental puncture especially when repeated tentatives of puncture are made. This can cause accidental puncture of the fingers blocking the superior part of the TIAD to permit the needle introductions. This invention is to guarantee the security of the nurses, doctors and all the people of the health system during this procedure.
Inserter/exctractor of needle for infusion or to take a sample trough totally implantable access device, blocking the skin over the TIAD, permit a safe introduction or extraction of needle through TIAD. The distance between the handle and the point of introduction of the needle avoid any risk of accidental puncture. When the needle is introducted a small opening of the ring of the device permit to live the needle in place with maximun of the security for the medical staff. The handle is made to avoid any movement during its use. The circle of the device can be convex or concave in relation to the obese or thin patients. The device is for simple use only to avoid any blood contaminations.
Claims
1) The inserter/extractor of needle for infusion or blood sample is shaped from a handle with which is possible to hold the device, and from a ring closet for 3A of the circle, forming a body with the handle, with which is possibile to block the skin over the TIAD.
2) The handle is far from the point in which the needle is inserted in order to avoid the risk of accidental puncture
3) The ruy of the device could be concave in case of obese patients and convex for the thin patients. In these forms the skin over the upper part of the TIAD can be better exposed to facilitate the needle introduction or extraction . The normal form is plate, for normal patients. (Tables 1, 2, 3).
4) The handle had in the under part four pleats corrisponding to the four fingers of the hand; on the upper part there is a small fossa for the thumb. The sinergy of the fingers of the upper and under part permit a valid use,
5) The material of the device can be plastic or metallic. This device will be for single use only.
6) The measures of the device are the following (Table 4): lenght of the handle 125.00 mm; width of the handle 28.00 mm; external lenght of the ring 67.00 mm; external width of thering 75.00 mm; diameter of the internal ring 35.00 mm.
7) In the inferior part of the 3A of ring could be applied a small part of soft plastic material in order to avoid any trouble for the patient and to permit a better adhesion during the manouvre.
