Abstract

Safety helmet (1), particularly a crash helmet for motorcyclists, equipped at the rear with a flexible container (4) designed to hold a folded wind-cheater or rain-proof jacket.

Description

2006/000818
"SAFETY HELMET" * * *
Field -of the invention
The subject of the present invention is a safety helmet, particularly but not exclusively a crash helmet for motorcyclists.
Summary of the invention
The peculiar feature of the invention resides in that the helmet is equipped at the rear with a container designed to hold a folded garment.
Thanks to this characteristic, the folded garment inside the container is immediately available to the user of the helmet at need; said garment typically comprises a wind-cheater of thin and waterproof and/or windproof material.
The "container, conveniently consisting of a flexible bag, may be fixed to the helmet permanently or in a detachable fashion, with the aid of any rapid connection system for example of the micro-hook type, so as to project below the shell of the helmet in the dorsal area.
Disposed thus the container plus garment folded inside it also plays a useful role by sheltering and protecting the back of the helmet user's neck. So as to ensure simple and immediate removal of the garment from the container in case of need, the container is conveniently equipped with a dorsal zip fastener.
Brief description of the drawings The invention will now be described in. detail with reference to the attached drawings, provided by way of example only and with no limiting intent, in which:
- figure 1 is a diagrammatic perspective view of a safety helmet according to the invention, - figure 2 is an elevation from the rear of the 0818
helmet represented in figure 1, and figure 3 is a lateral elevation showing the helmet according to the present invention in use.
Detailed description of the invention With reference to the drawings, reference numeral 1 generally designates a safety helmet, particularly but not necessarily a crash helmet for motorcyclists, comprising a shell 2 equipped, in the case of the example illustrated, with a built-in visor 3 situated at the front.
According to the invention, the helmet 1 is equipped at the rear with a container. 4 designed to hold a folded garment, such as for example a windcheater or a rain-proof jacket of thin and waterproof material.
The container 4 normally comprises a flexible bag suspended at the dorsal part of the helmet 1 so as to project below the shell 2. The connection with the helmet 1 may be permanent, and in that case the upper part of the bag 4 is welded to the lower area of the shell 2 or of the helmet padding or it may be detachable. In the second case there is a rapid connection system between the upper part of the flexible bag 4 and the shell 2, or the helmet padding, comprising micro-hooks ("Velcro"), press-studs, zip fastener or similar system.
To enable simple and immediate access to the folded garment located in the flexible bag, the latter is conveniently equipped with a dorsal zip fastener 5, which may alternatively be comprised of a micro-hook fastener ("Velcro") or similar system.
Figure 3 is diagrammatically showing the safety , helmet according to the invention in the condition of being worn on the user's head: as may be seen in this condition the flexible bag 4 extends behind the upper part of the user's neck, thus providing a useful function by sheltering and protecting this area, thanks to the cushion constituted of the folded garment inside it. Naturally, the construction details and embodiments may vary widely from that described and illustrated by way of example only, without departing from the sphere of the present invention, as defined in the following claims . Thus, for example, the helmet 1 may present different forms and shapes from that represented by way of example only in the drawings.
